Hi Im 143lbs (65kg) and 172cm (5'7), I also have strong ankles, good ankle bend, built calves (legs in general) from a martial arts background. I am a beginner but I've been casually ice skating and roller blading for 8 years (Forward stroking, Forward Slalom, basically all basic forward movement stuff I know how to do).

First off, Yes! I am going to a professional fitter! But I also want to know what possible boots the fitter might give me (To know what costs and how much I will have to spend).

I've been researching and I have taken interests in Jackson Freestyles, Edea Choruses, Risport Royal Pro (I think its an overboot), Edea Overtures, Risport Electra Lights. My foot is also 265mm on the dot, I would say I have standard foot width (not narrow but not wide as well). What do everyone thinks I'll get fitted to? So I can prepare my bank account! Thanks everyone :))

I think you'll get more feedback if you post your equipment questions in The Lutz Corner under Boots and Blades. This forum (Figure Skating: The Edge) is primarily for discussing elite, competitive skaters.

Omg yes! I realised that I did not put it under the Boots and Blades thread, I've been wondering if I should post it again or just wait !! Im embarrassed :censored:😭

:wave2:That's OK when you're new to the site and it's confusing :console:. You may get more advice once the world championships are over, though. GS is primarily a forum for skating fans and not many of us are actually skaters and/or coaches. The attention is focused on the championships that are just days away from starting. Hang in there, help will arrive eventually!

Hi again. Now you're in the right spot to catch the eye of the few coaches and skaters on GS. Where do you live, so someone who knows your part of the world (GS being an international forum) can direct you to the best fitter near you? Your fitter will measure your feet and ankles all around, not just their length and width. Different boot brands are designed to fit different foot shapes, not just their length as with street shoes.

When you do try different pairs on from different brands, as should be offered to you by the fitter if they know their job and the shop doesn't push one brand over all others, stand up and see how snug your heel is. Most of the boot can be moulded after-sale to some extent, but the heel part can't. It has to fit tightly for safety reasons, with no shifting of your heel up and down or sideways.

As I said in my other message, other advice will come but the anticipation here for the championships is distracting. Good luck and welcome to the ice!

I wouldn't repost it. I've found it works nicely to report the post and ask for it to be moved. But don't harass the mods by everyone reporting! Since no one has mentioned reporting, I will do it and hope it isn't a duplicate.

I'm from Australia, Melbourne! I've heard from a few skaters here from my area about a fitter who's been fitting for 30 years, so I might go there

That worked. The OP is now on Boots and Blades and not duplicated. I suspect not many people are looking at that thread just now, being in the throes of World Fever :excited::scream::cheer:

Hi and welcome. Sorry I have been busy and haven't been here as much.

I need a bit more information from you to give you the best idea what to look for.

I need to know your foot shape. ⬅️(that's a link).

I also need to know about your arches: Very high, high, normal, low, flat?

Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for replying! I have an Egyptian foot shape and I have a normal foot arch, I also would say that I have an average (medium) but a little bit on the narrow side foot width.

Thanks for answering: In putting together your stats (height/weight/foot shape/arches, etc) You could should look at Riedell Motion, Edea Chorus, Aura Sky 100, and possibly Risport Royal Pro. I get nervous with the Royal Pros for you since you said you have very strong ankles.

You will need blades to go with your boots. A standard style intermediate blade of either JW Coronation Ace or MK Pro will work just fine. (And you do not need Lite/Rev style blades ever).

As far as your sizing, please leave that to the professional fitter. You cannot measure yourself for figure skates when it comes to getting the right size with tracing, etc.

I wish you luck!
