It makes sense for Yuma to take some time off to ensure any aches and pains can heal after his comeback from surgery a few years ago. I'm sure the mental and emotional grind has been exhausting.
Ilia, too, will need to pace and motivate himself if he plans to do the entire four years. I recall Nathan's decision to juggle school with competition after 2018. It was complicated, but with support from his family & coaching team, and flexibility from Yale, Nathan managed to do both at a high level.

No big surprise, no Chock/Bates, even though they haven't officially said anything.
Also, no more Flores/Wang

No a formal announcement, but no C/B on a list for ice dance. No Flores/Wang in pairs. Jason and Starr on list for singles.
Sorry, basically Laurin/Ethier aren't listed here which means they have likely split, but nothing if official from the skaters.

I was more worried about Lia and Trennt not coming back than Laurin/Ethier (who I was sure would continue) was what I was implying.

Not surprised about Flores/Wang tbh. They didn't look good at all last season.

Hmm, it would not have occurred to me that Lia & Trennt would not return, after becoming Canadian champs and having great outings at both Olympics and Worlds. They are World bronze medalists. Why stop there unless there's a pressing reason to do so? However, on second thought, Trennt is 29, so the question is whether or not he feels physically able to continue. Lia is only 22. Somewhat similar to Kam/O'Shea, in that Ellie is 21, while Danny is a whopping 35 years old. K/O now have an Olympic team gold, so I suspect Danny may either retire to coach full-time or give it one more year to help the U.S. discipline make a beneficial transition with all the new teams and partner splits/ switches.

Jason and Starr will likely eventually be removed from the singles list, unless Starr is doing double duty, which I doubt. It makes sense that Jason might return in order to end his competitive career on a higher note.

ETA:
Starr is likely still listed as a singles skater because she is not retiring, and she has not yet announced a pairs partner. Once that announcement is made, she will most likely be removed from singles and added to the pairs list with her chosen partner.

The age. Trennt is indeed almost 30 and he's been at it forever. Lia is still very young and just starting but in Canadian circles, we were indeed worried he wouldn't want to commit to more after the games.
Also, for Kelly Ann, she wasn't able to train because of a blade cut early in the fall.
In any case, though Patinage Québec has posted their list, things are still subject to confirmation from Skate Canada. It's really then that we will have the full stories.. .or not

Reportedly, Luke had a hand or wrist injury when the season began. That explains their disaster at John Nicks. They had a better showing at Skate America, and at U.S. Nationals. They were not bad at junior Worlds either. They helped get 3 spots for U.S. junior pairs next year, plus more positions for JGP. The biggest issue is that they were appearing to have outgrown each other since 2024-25 season.
Who expected them to be?
Lia and/or Trennt said in interviews that they hadn't made any plans for after this season. Of course, that caused concern among their fans that Trennt might retire.

and I think they have now said they will be back in an interview but I wouldn't be able to remember when and where. correct me if I'm am wrong

I could be wrong but I think skaters shouldn't make those decisions immediately after a long season ending with the Olympics. Unless, of course, they made that decision early on in the season. Age for a pairs man has to be a significant factor. Even though pairs ladies are teeny tiny, throwing around 100 lbs can wear a body down. I saw Spencer and Emily on the list and wondered what his commitment to the Army is and whether it involves continuing competing in figure skating. Also - unless I missed it - Maddie Chock and Evan Bates are not listed under dance. Did they announce their retirement?
They talked about their plans for next season at the press conference at Worlds, that's where it came from.
