Once again, to specifically answer the thread topic, it is purely anyone's guess re whether or not the huge interest in Alysa will translate into sustained and broader interest in figure skating. From my perspective and years of observation, I say: No. The phenomenal interest in Alysa Liu is mostly about Alysa and her personality, not about the sport.
Agreed. Also, I don’t think it should be her job to fulfill (unless she willingly takes an interest in doing so). She’s got her personal brand to manage, of course - but whether / how much skating benefits will ultimately be driven by those who govern and/or market skating directly. It's the sport and its 'handlers' who will need to position and effectively promote the sport and the skaters in honest and significant ways before huge, sustained interest in figure skating beyond the Olympics can occur.
FWIW - very recently, I’ve been noticing a general uptick in Alysa Liu related content being pushed on social media despite having never searched for her, so the algorithms are definitely at work here too…frankly I think they play a much bigger hand in driving modern trends than many realize.
