Ice dance? Pairs?

Jason and Isabeau would be so beautiful together

Either ice dance or pairs would be amazing, but ice dance might be a better fit, I think. In any case, what a pairing of two of the world's most expressive skaters.

Also, Jason could be a brilliant solo ice dancer and help to bring more many more viewers to the discipline.

But, I'm not convinced he's completely done with singles competition.....

Jason as a solo ice dancer would be indeed, brilliant! I am so down for that!😊

He is such a great performer! I agree that he really hasn't decided on what to do next. I think he wants to at least do Nats and erase 2026 Nats, but beyond that, we'll see. I think he's still relevant, if he feels that his body can handle the workload. He can still push the other skaters to work on their PCs and artistry by showing up and showing them how it's done. It's a big order for a 32 year old, but Jason is not an ordinary 32 year old skater. He's Jason Brown!

He’s 32? Wow. 👏

I hate to be a naysayer but I would be very surprised if Jason continues to compete. And the wishful thinking about ice dance and pairs? Those disciplines take years to develop the "oneness" that's required to be successful. Maybe if he was a few years younger. I would love to see Jason continue to skate shows, perhaps go into coaching (with Tracy and Rohene) and give his body a rest. I'm very excited about seeing him this coming Thursday in St. Louis.

I think he really hasn't made up his mind. I can see him doing Nats. I will be surprised to see him do the GPs. I am disappointed that I couldn't work out the logistics to get to one of the SOI shows. But I hope to see him skate live again at some point. He'll do SOI and take a break and talk to his team, to USFS, his family and then make up his mind. He'll know when it's time.

I'm not trying to make anybody sad - just trying to be realistic. There aren't many elite skaters out there his age. I can only imagine what he has to do to recover and keep his body healthy. The pressure on his back, legs and feet from landing jumps is incredible. I remember Kurt having back problems because of that and having to curtail many of his jumps as a result. The men have pretty much passed Jason by technically and quite a few are catching up to him presentation-wise. While I still think there is no one that can match Jason for grace and musical interpretation.....I just don't think that's enough in this world now. And quite frankly, (laughing) that's Jason's doing. He raised the bar!! And I agree, he'll know when it's time.

I think that, like Yuzuru Hanyu, he's passionate about Figure Skating and has very strong willpower and is very self-demanding, and whether in Competition or in Shows, he's always going to do his best, so I don't think that his choice between Amateur and Professional won't depend on that? Unless he has completely career-ending injury of course, which I really hope he hasn't!

Based on what we're seeing, Jason is not injured. But competing relies on strong 3As in competition, which Jason hasn't had in the last couple of seasons. He can do them, but he's not landing them when it counts. So that's going to be a decision point, I think. The passion is there. A lot depends on what the scoring rules will be this season. He's still better at spins than any of the other men, and his PCs tend to be higher. But the gap is narrowing among the very best skaters. He'll continue to get those points if he can deliver the jumps. Ultimately, he'll do what makes him feel happy and what he thinks will move skating forward in the things he finds most important. But I don't think he wants that Nats skate to be his last competitive skate, so I think he'll be seriously considering doing some competitions this season to see where he is and how much he can do.
