Hi everyone

I am currently thinking to get a pair of MK Dynasty for freestyle/dance, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them and in particular how the secondary rocker (spin rocker) feels compared to other blades. There is quite a lot of info regarding the rockers from other MK and JW blades but cannot find any info re the Dynasty.

Thanks!

What blades have you been using up to now? On which boots? I've only heard about the Dynasty from friends who got on an adult synchro team recently and were told to get Dynasty blades since they're designed specifically for synchro. The difficulty they've both had with them is going from the 7' rocker they're accustomed to onto the 8' rocker, which makes spinning more challenging for any such switch regardless of which blades. My friends both have MK Pros on the skates they use for their individual skating, so switching back and forth during a typical week is making the challenge more difficult. From what I hear, if you're used to an 8' then you'll be fine on the Dynasty. If you've been using a 7', then you'll have the same learning process to find the spin spot that you'd have switching to any 8' rocker blade. And then there's the adjustment to a shorter heel, especially if you do a lot of jumping. And a higher stanchion, tipping your weight if you've been using other MK blades.

If you're thinking of taking up synchro and can afford more than one pair of boots and blades, then fine. Likewise with dance -- I'd get a separate pair of low-cut dance boots and dance blades myself instead of trying to do everything on one. But it's up to you. I wouldn't buy them myself and then expect to be able to do everything on the one hybrid blade without constant concentration, but if you're up to the challenges, good luck!

Thanks for your reply, I have been on Coronation Aces, Gold Seal and Pattern 99. Currently on the latter as I prefer 8’ rockers, on a Jackson custom boot with a low-cut at the back as I don’t jump much nowadays due to injuries and practice more choreos and steps.

Then you should be all right with the Dynasty blades, just the usual adjustment to finding the spin spot as with any new blades. I'm quoting others, though, and only two skaters. I've never tried the blades myself. I'm a pair skater, and my needs are quite different. Good luck!

Does being designed for Synchro mean they have relatively short tails? Short enough to affect jump landings? But you said you don't jump much now... If you want a short tail for steps, would a dance blade be better for you? Just wondering...

The Dynasty blade is halfway between dance blades and freestyle blades in tail length, the idea being that synchro skaters do a bit of both, but neither to the extremes of the separate disciplines. Or so my fitter explained when I asked out of curiosity. The OP seems to want to do that type of skating in general, a bit of both without going to competitive level, and thought this hybrid blade might work. It may well, I haven't seen it in action or used it myself.
