Jason Brown

I still think that if Jason wasn't going to compete he would have said something by now to enable the committees to choose another skater to take his place. I'm just waiting to hear what it is he's skating to. Fingers and toes crossed! Come on someone - leak!! And I wonder if he went off trekking with the family to parts unknown like he's done in past seasons.

Jason is in Chicago with his family. Then he'll probably be heading up to Toronto. I think he's still determining what he wants to do this season. He's clearly not decided against the GP season yet. But I don't think he's decided for it either. He and Tracy will want to review any new rules and the actual assignments to talk this over and make decisions. Most of the podcasts are in agreement that this GP list is not final and that there will be a lot of changes. So those considering going to any of them to see a particular skater, should wait and see. And the limited return of Russian athletes who will become alternates, will impact this season in some ways. It may hasten some retirements or encourage those who want to probe their point. I think the jury is still out, but Jason is still considering doing the GPs. Skate America at least should be a fairly low stress event. NHK is much tougher. But if Jason is worried about placement and just skates his best, I think he'll be fine.

Aspen makes more sense now. Jason and Danny are doing a meet and and Greet at the Olympic center this weekend. So Jason got a long weekend with his parents in Aspen. Possibly both have discussions with USFS as well?
US Figure skating just posted a reel promoting Skate America with all the US skaters slated to be there...and Jason was in it. I think this is the closest thing to a confirmation outside of a program announcement. Also now we know who got the host spots. Or at least now I know, maybe someone else posted them somewhere but I've been wrapped up in other stuff and hadn't seen it yet.

He's been posting a lot, doing seminars, fund raisers for RMHC and enjoying life! I am pretty sure that he'll do Nats, and he may need to do a GP to do Nats, but we'll see. He might want one last World's too. His GPs are Jason approved also. Gut feeling is that he'll do it as long as he's in shape to do it.

Jason is a great skater but he's also a great fan! This is a good gig for him. I don't see him in synchro. He has too much personality and would stand out. But he is a big fan! Always has been. I'm just happy to see him happy and busy. No matter what he decides on as his career trajectory, I just want him to be happy and fulfilled. He's got so many talents!

Well, if he is developing new programs, Ro is the man..

Call me crazy, but my SWAG is that if he indeed skating another year🤞 that he may train more in Chicago and go to Tracy for tuneups. This would be the ultimate "skating for me" year and Chicago is good for his mental health. I don't think "skating for me" is bad in all times and in all places. If anyone deserves it, it is Jason).

Which skaters got the host spots?

No indication of pairs or singles as yet, but the reel points to Wolfkostin/Tsarevski and Neset/Markelov getting the ice dance spots. Everyone in the reel except for those two ID teams had already been named. However, that could potentially be in question after Lake Placid, but expanding on that would be a discussion for the ID threads.

It's a possibility. He's got Champs Camp coming up at the end of August and also Friends on Ice in Japan at the end of August. Staying in Chicago for the earlier part of August makes a lot of sense. If he's at Champ's Camp, he will have to present programs.

According to his IG stories, Jason is in Osaka. So of course Json is very happy

But why Osaka????:scratch2:
He's at the Kankui ice rink in Osaka and showed a bag with a skating club logo. Guessing that he's doing a seminar. My oldest daughter and family are currently in Fukuoka, but will be heading to Osaka at some point on their slow way back to Tokyo for the return flight. Paths will probably not cross, but you never know. Jason seems to be preparing for retirement sometime in the near future. But probably after Skate America. He's been very busy doing seminars.

So now it looks like the seminar is in Shenzhen?

Jason, you are confusing us. (me, you are confusing me  )

He's still seems to be posting from Japan. I don't know that he's in China right now. And his original post indicated that he would be back in the US "soon." Maybe it's an instagram form of Where's Waldo? The scenes in China are being posted by a coach in China, not Jason. They might have been earlier in the year.
