Hello! I hope this is the right thread to be asking advice, I havent been on for a moment!
Hope everyone is doing well.
I recently switched from a jackson 5300 to an Edea Ice fly ( pre new boot construction). Size 255 width C
The blade size stayed the same casue the one I had on my jackson was Ill-fitting. Blade size 91/2
Im really struggling with Camel spins and cannonball. I can do them, but they feel extremly forced and not fluid. I feel too close to my toe-pick.
I think its because im being pushed forward from the Edea, but I wanted advice on how I could maybe fix that or improve it. or get advice from other edea users.
Thank you everyone!

Hey Meg!

Sorry to hear your skates aren’t working out :( I had something similar earlier this year, so I feel your frustration.

A couple things would help answer your question better:
- What was your reason for switching brands? Jackson and Edea are two differently shaped brands, with Edeas being much narrower with an aggressively forward pitch (how far forward the skate leans you); they also have a flexible tongue and open collar, meaning you’ll be more likely to pitch more forward onto your rocker. Jackson’s are a more classic boot without the open collar design.
- Is it only during spins that you’re struggling, or do you feel like you’re slanting forward all the time? If it’s all the time, you may just need to get used to the feel of the new boots. If it’s only during spins, this style of boot may require different centering technique than you’re used to or greater ankle strength to maintain the correct spot on your rocker at your new pitch angle.

Also since you were in Jackson, did you wear Matrix blades with them? If so, did you like them? I’m considering the Supreme, but want to hear more opinions before I commit. Thanks!!
