Ladies SP

As Michael Kors says on Project Runway, "That's a whole lot of dress."

Its not usually a complement. There's a bit too much going on there But her skating skills are quite good.

I don't understand. The US judges alway seemed very harsh on Caroline. I will see how they judge the rest of them this year.

It's not that the judges are just harsh on her. It's that she has unsteady technique and lacks great skating skills.

Kristine Musademba (Within)

Interesting choreography to start
SpSq4, unsupported spiral was just barely above her hip
3F slight 2-foot + 2T
3Lz (e) 2foot
LSp4
Did Brian Joubert use this music?
2A nice
FSp4 verrrry slow and no tuck (could be called as a L1)
SlSt ok, but does everyone have to end with an illusion?
Stars to CCo4, slowed down in back sit

Remember, PCS factors in much more than just presentation. Did she have great skating skills? speed? power? command and full coverage of the ice? strong, secure edges? transitions linking the elements together? choreography? musical interpretation? was the performance well executed?

Well, that's the thing, I think she's really improved on skating skills, speed, power, command and coverage, edging, transition. And she's always had good choreography, interpretation. Plus today she performed with more ease than she has done all year.

I'm not saying that she's the very best in presentation, especially as CoP defines "presentation". But I do think she has improved a lot, and I'm sad to see that it's not reflected in her scores. She scored 25.15 at last year's SP. It was a *lot* better this year (25.08). She was tentative and nervous last year, she looked unhappy on ice, she was slow, she flipped out of her 3-3, she flutzed.
I really can't believe that they gave her lower PCS this year than last! Does anyone notice the contrast of how much better she skated this year?

ETA: even at TEB, where she completely missed the 2A in the SP, had her 3F-3T downgraded the same way, and got some low levels, she scored 24.96 in the PCS. And I think she skated with less speed there. National's judging always inflates scores, I think with the later skaters, we will soon see very inflated scores, expecting maybe 2-3 each for TES and PCS. So in that context, yes, I think US judges really hate Caroline!

It's too early to say that. We'll have to see how they will judge Ashley, Rachael and Mirai on speed, edges, rotations... But my gut feeling tells me the US judges clearly made their mind already they don't like Caroline that much. If you compare Caroline's SP score with last year, it clearly said something they just don't like her.

It's really, really hard to judge speed from video. Maybe the views from the IN cameras covered up a lack of speed?

I think its her visible jump flaws they don't like.

I should've done this sooner, but I just want to give kate a huge thank you for the pbp.

Caroline's technique leaves a lot to be desired. Can you really award high PCs for just presentation, choreography and expression alone? Caroline's poor technique is holding her scores back, not the judges. Let's say Caroline didn't underrotate. She would still have -GOEs for her mule kick and far reach back.

Tenille's dress looks exactly like Nikodinov's dress for the woman's worth program...is she her coach?

nvm...just saw angela...she's so pretty...wish she was still competing
