Ladies SP

Tenile Victorsen

3Lo+2T ok
Pretty arms but not great posture
3S, really works on the takeoffs (in a bad way)
2A
LSp3 (or else the same issue as Caroline)
SpSq4, leaned way down on the unsupported
CCoSp3, possibly 4 but didn't look like she got the 8 revs on the sit to me
SlSt nice quick rockers
FSSp4 really, incredibly slow

She scored 25.15 at last year's SP. It was a *lot* better this year (25.08). She was tentative and nervous last year, she looked unhappy on ice, she was slow, she flipped out of her 3-3, she flutzed.
I really can't believe that they gave her lower PCS this year than last! Does anyone notice the contrast of how much better she skated this year?

Last season, Caroline had more momentum going into the Championship than she does this year. Last year she had made it to the Grand Prix Final and was the reigning World Jr. Champion. She doesn't have the same credentials this season and the judges do still give resume scores, just as they did back in the days of 6.0. It's one of those hidden PCS components that skating fans pick up on over years of watching the scoring of these events.

Czisny 65.75
Zhang 58.91
Hacker 54.79
Musademba 53.48
Victorsen 46.84
Oberstar 46.73
Zhou 44.96
Rosenthal 43.48
Telecky 40.70
Khazova 30.58

Caroline may need to find a new coach and fast.

I second that. I've been thinking all along that MingZhu Li, as nice and smart as she is, may not be the right coach for her. And maybe another disappointing National's will just be the thing to make her family find someone else.

Caroline is once again in danger of not skating in the last group, which means once again, even if she skates amazingly like last year in the FS (while everyone else's flutzes and UR's are ignored), she might still end up 4th or at best 3rd, thus ending up missing World's.

I could have sworn Arakawa wore a costume that looked like that back in 2004 or something.

Well, that's just the stupid thing about CoP, pretending to be objective and fair when it isn't. What does momentum have to do with anything? Aren't they supposed to be judged for the skate of the day?

I do not know if it is that exactly.
Zhang is a one trick pony, her trick is that she is a contortionist. You are either born with this or not. But her jumping level will never be at a senior level, she has no "power" in the legs. I pray though, that at least one U.S. skater can manage to place in the top five at Worlds. Right now, I really wonder. Except for Flatt, I see very little hope for the U.S. women. (Now if Bebe or Alyssa ever skated the perfect LP-WOW!)

Angela Maxwell (Masquerade Waltz and What Hands Can Do)

Horrible half OTB tights
2A huge
3T+3T lost all speed on the second one, but went right into it out of footwork
3Lz landed on blade and flipped out
SpSq4 very slow on last spiral
Would by LSp3 but she grabbed her leg after 2 revolutions, looks like she had a wonky beginning -- automatic L1 and possible deductions
CCoSp4, didn't finish it off well
CiSt lots of arm movements, nice butterfly
FSSp4, may have not been low enough on any of the variations (too close to call)

Angela Maxwell is very fun to watch. I hope she is able to develop and grow as a skater over the next few seasons because she is certainly talented.

I will have to say it is indeed the judges's problem. Caroline's technique is better than last year although it's just a little bit improvement. And she skated way better than last year, but the judges' score clearly is telling her another story, "No you didn't improve at all, you skated as bad as last year."
Caroline's technique leaves a lot to be desired. Can you really award high PCs for just presentation, choreography and expression alone? Caroline's poor technique is holding her scores back, not the judges. Let's say Caroline didn't underrotate. She would still have -GOEs for her mule kick and far reach back.

Ahh I lost my internet connection and had to close the video feed and now I can't get it to open again, it keeps making a popping noise everytime I click on it!

Oh I got it! I had to open IN on like five different tabs...but I got it.
