Takahiko Kozuka is one sophisticated skater with a unique style. It's just that not everybody's a fan of that style. Some find it 'too simple', 'too empty', 'too understated'.
I've seen comments about how Kozuka being too bland, right down to his competitive wear, to which I still say it's a competition. Yes, it's also a performance but not the flipping catwalk. I mean at least it doesn't BURN like some male ice dancer-wear. ANYWAY....
Skating skills alone of Kozuka should at least be in the 8 range. However, knowing how PCs are usually consistent in all portions (consistently high or low in all portions but never truly high in one portion and extremely low in another), he probably didn't get 8s in his skating skills.
and that Javier Fernández made it to the free skate. Third time's the charm - go, Javi!
