Congratulations Evan. He skated beautifully and he has fought back all season. I am Canadian and am very happy for Patrick. Joubert I feel badly for he was doing so well then two costly errors.

Correct me if I am wrong but does Evan winning make it two world champions in a row who won without a quad.

So let's see how many nay sayers there are for this win because he did not have a quad. I still believe while the quad is spectacular and should get high marks for execution it is not the be all and end all to win. You have to have more than just the quad. Evan and Patrick have proved that.

I hope Evan enjoys his year at the top of the world he has earned it.

I know, now he can skate with less pressure in Vancouver...but then still I kinda wish he had won...

Ah well. Patrick didn't win and Brian didn't win. In German we say: wenn zwei sich streiten, freut sich der dritte (if two people argue, the third one wins).

Honestly, I don't think that Evan's program is artistically better than Brian's. Evan deserves more PCS today because he was clean, but to me, artistry-wise and musicality-wise, they are just the same. Brian having better skating skills though.

Another question: Evan landed about the same at 4CC and lost against a Chan with 7 Triples. Here Chan also had 7 Triples and lost against Evan.

Those two ratified Triple Axels for Evan might have been a small present from the tech panel, they were so borderline.

Mostly happy for Verner, who would have thought that he can get it together for 6 jumping passes? The title could have very well been his. He is the complete package, Quad included.

That's the best reaction I can come up with after tonight. Totally not the competition I had hope to see and far from the result I expected.

Well, Evan scrapped most of Tarasova's choreography and one of her costumes, so I'd say the mark of Lori Nichol was actually what did it.

Well, the scrapping showed in that crappy program and skate. He got lucky Brian fell.
Let's not start bashing the winner now. I am not Scott Hamilton, don't reduce me.

Yes so sad, another quadless man won the world title, and he got beat by an 18 year old "brat" as so many people like to refer to him as. Poor poor Brian

I think you could make an argument all top three were overscored one way or the other. I mean 8s for Evan in PCS? Kozuko was underscored IMO. Well Ladies will be really interesting now.

Universal Sports showed some interesting things from backstage! Tarasova was there--she went up to Brian and told him something along the lines of, "Never change, you did the quad, be who you are." Then she went up to Evan and hugged him. Guess she doesn't care that he scrapped most of her choreography?

It's nice to see her giving congrats to Evan and Frank. Yeah, he scrapped most of her programs but she didn't seem to mind. Artistic? No. However Evan's arms were more controlled tonight in both steps. I'll (metaphorically) drink to that.

Seeing Brian's reaction, however, makes me feel for him ...
Evan deserved to win, he skated clean, but i really don't like his artistry and CH. Chan's was better, Brian's was better.
