Caroline Zhang's 2009-10 season

Of the preexisting Nutcracker programs, I hope she's not using a music-cut thats similar to Mao's Nutcracker-- I'd much prefer Sasha's.

However, what I really hope she's using would be the lesser known, never been done before Act 1 Snow pas de deux.

I can just imagine her spiral sequence starting at 2:22 :)

By the way, she said she doesn't want to hurt anyone so she's not going to post much on twitter anymore.

I wish there were videos of her skates at the show!

I have some poor video of both of her routines from Friday. Over at Caroline's fan page, some guy is posting that you can buy a DVD of the show. I saw a professional video crew there Friday. ;)

I have scanned the still photographs I took at the meet and greet. I am trying to decide which is the best site to upload them to.

Didn't Sasha also state that she will be using Tschaikowsky? If it is one of those pas de deux from anyone of his ballets, they will be in direct competition for Battle of the Flexibilities

Wont that be a gas? C'mon Rachael and let see that Sing,Sing,Sing.

Some of her Twitter followers were offended that she called the police useless after she lost her luggage.

Oh for pete's sake
A sixteen year old feeling a little panicky - and who can blame her. And she could have meant the situation was hopeless. That her bag and skates were gone and there was nothing the police could do about it = useless.
How can anyone get upset about such a remark?
And a skater losing their skates right before a Gala /charity event is something to get upset about.
Personally, I think some of these skaters are better off keeping a lower profile anyway.

I think both picasaweb and flickr are great. But guess it depends on what resolution / security settings you have in mind? Thank you so much for sharing!!

Sad but true :(

What happened to the "Battle of The Acrobats"

Sasha hasn't made any mention of music she'll be using this season. We haven't heard a peep from her since she announced her comeback in May. She used Pas de Deux from the Nutcracker for her 2004/2005 LP.

the choreographer of "on my own" and "river"

Slightly OT, does anyone know who choreographed Zhang's "river" and "on my own"? I was checking her wiki page, someone wrote all three Ex. programs (Lullaby, River, On my way) done by Lori, which I know it's not correct, Lullaby was choreographed by Karen Kwan.

It is a shame, but unfortunately, there are all sorts of people out there, and you can't be completely open when you are in the public eye. It's a good lesson for Caroline to learn, since she isn't in the habit of monitoring what she says. She will need to decide whether to Twitter openly and politically correctly or privately and frankly. Rachael Flatt seems to have it down.

 It should be acrobats, but knowing this Forum, acrobatic is never mentioned, and a special definition of flexibility for skaters is used in its place.

Thank you LKR. I picked up the misinformation from another thread without checking if it were true. Mea Culpa!!

However, regardless of the musics, I will be reviewing the two for my own consideration as to who has the best flexibility. I still don't know why that is so important. I guess it's for the GoEs.

I'm waiting to see Sasha's pearl spin.

As for this Twitter business, I think it's designed to be essentially private conversations, that others may or may not be allowed to view. If Caroline has protected her updates and messages, then that problem is solved. :ohwell:

From The Inside Edge with Sarah and Drew, Zhang wasn't the only one dealing with misplaced baggage recently. Several of the skaters who participated in the "Skate For Hope" event in Columbus, Ohio, including Emily Hughes and Rachael Flatt had baggage including skate bags that were delayed due to flight cancellations and delays in the midwest. Hughes and Flatt's luggage eventually showed up a couple of hours before the performance on Saturday night. Good to know that all the luggage finally showed up for all of the skaters.

Sorry it took so long. Here are the pictures from the Ice Crystals 2009 show from Friday. Shots taken with a Nikon FM3a film SLR, SB-28 flash, 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 AI-S Nikkor. Hand held. Kodak Portra VC 400 film.

When was the last time these skaters stared down the barrel of a high end FILM camera?

Thanks for the photos. Caroline looks wonderful as did Brittany and the other skaters. You really got some great shots

Great photos! She's developing such a star quality. Reminds me of a young Naomi Nari Nam:

or young Ziyi Zhang (from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon):

That dress is not very flattering to her figure, but from the Icenetwork photos, it's clear that she has a nice figure: feminine but slim.

I'm somehow feeling positive about her chances this season, despite the "surprising" choice of coach and LP music -- the main reason being that I think she's maturing as a person. I think as she grows into a more self-assured lady, that's going to show in her skating as well. I think have more self-confidence and knowing who she is and wants to be will help her greatly in her presentation.
