Some scientific analysis of Mao's 3A

While 3-3 is difficult, more women attempt it than 3A, so it's probably because very few ladies have attempted 3A in competition that the judges are more lenient with it. If more ladies do 3A, perhaps the judging will be stricter. Also, I think there has always been a gender factor in judging figure skating. The men are expected to do harder jumps and their scores are higher as a result. Well, I have also heard commentators say Mao's 3A is textbook perfect and as good as any guy's so I dunno we can base it on commentator's opinions.

I do not deny gender differences out there, but it seems ridiculous to hugely count it in at one point and totally out at another point with regard to ratifying jumps. I am just wondering any commentators have hollered a "textbook 3A" for Asada this season. Some 3As of her junior seasons deserved those hollers, but sadly, not any more, I guess, when she skids more and rotates less.

3A should not be compromised to be something less than 3A, even if there is no female skater can do it.

So many commentators including Scott and Peggy compliment Kim's 3-3 is much better than mens' in its height, distance, and air position. But Asada's 3A quality is seriously less than any men's 3A in its rotations, skidding, and take-off position, but mostly she gets every credit if she lands it. That's why I think the point for "un-true" 3A sometimes seems just ridiculous.

So many commentators including Scott and Peggy and Dick and the Brits complimented Asada's 3A textbook and quality and not many men can do better. She's the only one in recent memory to have some preceding steps into her 3A. How many men do it?
I can give a few youtube examples of this.

Which youtube said Kim's 3-3 is much better than the mens' except the comments from bots. Just because you repeat it a few times doesn't mean it's true.

"just textbook" same technique, same skid, same everything, just one year ago. If they commentate on her current programs, it will be "just textbook" again.

Ok, time to ignore.

The bots, however, hollered a "much better 3-3 than the mens" for Kim in the GPF LP.

Ok. Let's be fair. Comments like "textbook 3A" were made as recent as 2008. When she doesn't do it well, the judges do penalize her. But when she does it well then we should give her credit. So I don't understand this thing about her 3A being compromised. Also, I also don't understand why Asada's 3A must follow the same standard as men. Because the same double standard applies to Yuna's 3-3. If she were a guy, I don't think she would get huge GOEs for her 3-3. It's because she's a woman who can jump as good as guys on difficult jumps that she gets the judge's attention.

GOE is discretionary and different from any ratification of jumps. Judges cannot turn 2A into 3A by their discretion. I genuinely respect Asada's past glory, but her 3A has crumbled noticeably in a fast pace this season.

Scott and Peggy, and if you understand either French or German, check out euro sports' commentators of 2009. FYI, Kim did 3-2 in her Tokyo GPF LP.

My point is that 3A should not be compromised to be something less than 3A for any reasons including gender or the number of capable skaters.

Her 3As have never been so consistent (not to the point as Yuna's 3-3), but when she lands them, they look beautiful :). Her 3A is not the problem; it's more like her overreliance on her 3A is her main problem because it is affecting the other areas of her programs. Asada's past programs wasn't just about the 3A, which was always a hit or miss with her, though I respect her for trying.

On a side note, I think this thread is an analysis of Mao's 3A, so I am assuming that people who reply agree that Mao at least can do a real 3A. If someone don't believe Mao has ever done a real 3A or can no longer do the real 3A then I think this discussion should be done in a different thread. I am not specifically targeting you Starrynight. Just making a general logical statement :)

I think the analysis would be enriched further if encompassing comprehensive issues about 3A. Surely, I guess it is a bit off the topic to talk about somebody who does not do 3A. I am not particularly targeting Flattfan, though.

Scott and Peggy this season? Peggy hasn't commentated for the past 2 seasons. Kim hasn't done a good 3-3 this entire season, let along a 3-3 better than the men. And yes, the 3-3 I mentioned at the GPF LP was intentional and of course, bots aren't smart enough to detect sarcasm.

Hmm.....Sorry, but you are wrong. Let's get the facts straight.

2009 Skate America sp commentary by CBC (Tracy Wilson and Kurt Browning). Both said she jumps like men- only better.

2009 World sp Turkish Commentary (TPT 3) by commentator and a figure skater Tugba Karademir: (about Kim's 3-3)
"is as good as men's jumps, (her jumps) do not look like that of ladies"

There are couple other commentators (italian or russian). As soon as I find those vids I will post.
So, it looks like there are more "bots" than you thought huh?
According to your theory NBC, CBC, TPT and other international commentators (I will validate this) are all yuna bots? It's okay to express your hatred but when it comes to facts, please provide evidence. otherwise you just become a liar.

Is GPF entire season for you? She made only two mistakes(GPF LP and SA LP) out of 6 attempts. I don't count GPF SP because I think that call is total BS.
If that was not good enough, how could you live with Mao's 3A success rate??
Whatever. I don't wanna know.
Oh, and I think that poster meant Sandra, not Peggy.
I'm also pretty sure that at CBC Tracy said "Yuna jumps like a man" and Curt said "Even better." after her 3-3.
I was at SA in 2008 and 2009, watched both men's and ladies' events, so I can say this without any hesitation that Yuna's 3-3s (and lutz) are actually better than many men's.:agree:
I won't say anything about Mao's jumps because I've never had a chance to watch her in person.

I know. But haters will always be haters.
I don't think Yuna's 3-3 is better than all men's 3-3. However, her power and the speed into those jumps are equal or better than many of the male skaters.

Sorry for the wrong information. They are Sandra and Scott, who have profusely complimented and defended Kim's 3-3 this entire season. If you call them all "bots", I am so honored to be in the "bots" camp along with Scott and Sandra rather than you, F-fan.

The point is, my bot, you said a lot about Mao's 3A THIS SEASON.
Well, THIS SEASON, the Korean's 3-3 isn't exactly like a man.

Wow, what a lifestyle! Someone has different opinion from yours? Ignore. Someone says inconvenient truth? Ignore. Want to stop someone talking? Call them bots and shut them up. There are another person who has different opinion from me? That can't be! It must be same person in new name. Someone correct your mistake? Name it sarcasm, hyperbole, joke, whatever.
I envy you! Life must be really easy for you. Good for you!

Well, I believe being called a bot by F-fan marks you as one who supports the facts, the principles, and the truth.

So. I guess you don't even have decency to respond to the info (a reply, rather) I provided above? Okay. that was clearly waste of time... silly of me, what could I have possibly expected from the UBER MAO BOT?
