2011-2012 Program Stuff

D-W FD will look like this

I think it was good FD

For them, (McCurdy / Coreno), yes it was. But I expect the current World champions to be more original than that.
We have seen (those the older ones:) a trademark version by Rakhamo / Kokko, then of course Dai's WC program, and now they are trying it again.
And I just read that Weaver / Poje will skate to it too:confused::scowl:

Common, La strada will become "Requiem for a dream" for 2012

But they will use new elements, lifts. And when they used something not overused? And they are best ice dance team now. So i think all is OK

Well, the only lift D&W seem to recycle is the rotational lift. And the requirements for level 4 for rotational lifts changed this year, so that will change too.

So I expect to see 3 or 4 new lifts from them, for sure.

And they change their spin around all the time.

Step sequences: the not touching sequence often has a lot of originality (sometimes not), but the circular not much originality ever, in common with the rest of the S&Z teams.

No one can say either D&W or V&M are the "best" because the teams have been scored very, very close for 2 years. Sometimes one team wins, and sometimes the other.

I hope Tessa is really able to train properly this year. If she can, I expect to see V&M to produce better programs this year than last year, obviously. So anyone who claims D&W are clearly best just now is just not being realistic.

Wow, that could be amazing! I wouldn't mind them skating to La Strada either, but this choice is more interesting.

Thank you. I am glad they won't skate to La Strada, and they did well with lyrical choices, but they will have to bring their artistical skills up quite a notch to keep the attention and interest of the audience and judges with such a rythm.

Surely Dai did an amazing job!

So for that matter, did Rahkamo & Kokko!

However, La Strada is just a nice piece of music that lifts almost everyone that skates to it; it's got to be easier to skate to than the tangoes D&W used this year from the Postman & Forever Tango. You can certainly see Meryl's love of Italian movies and Italy in general in their choices, though!

What I'm interested to see is how they splice those 3 pieces listed for the SD together.

I'm so glad you mentioned Rahkamo and Kokko's performance of "La Strada," Doris, and Herios also! Wasn't it prime? They were one of my favorite couples ever.

It'll be interesting to see D/W take it on.

Meanwhile, I'm inspired to go hunt up R/K skating to it and of course Daisuke as well. I'd say I'm qualified to be an uber-fan of Dai's, except I suspect that just about everyone is an uber-fan of his. It's hard to feel lukewarm about a guy who's that good and that musically magical.

Volosozhar and Trankov's new SP is Bring Me To Life by Evanescence. It was choreographed by Jermaine Brown.

Their long program is to Black Swan by Clint Mansell and Tchaikovsky. Nikolai Morozov did the choreography.
These are interesting music choices. It'll be interesting to see how they pull off skating to Evanescence. I rarely see pair skaters skate to rock music.

Apparently, B/L are doing Jesus Christ Superstar for SP and Tosca for LP.
Those are some weird choices but we just have to see how the programs work out for them.

If you were unable to find it yet Olympia, here is Susanna R. ad Petri K, with their "La Strada" their first world medal in Chiba 1994:

Their interpretation and expression is a stand out, and back those days the lifts were not mandatory, only highlights, so younger fans might be unaware so do not get surprised as they are not as difficult hnor intricate.
Nonetheless, the lifts were beautifully blended into the choreo. This team imo, was undermarked for most of their careers.

I've gotten the dance and pairs done so far with the programs I know of now on the other thread.

Some of the ones I've found have not yet been listed on this thread.

They had a nice playful, almost comedic take to the story. Hearing the music again, I can picture Davis and White skating to it clearly, but I think they will do a more dramatic interpretation of the story. Can't wait for Voir's choices.

I have to say that B/L's music choices are always boring.

I wouldn't necessarily say that B/L's music is boring. I did like the music they picked last year. I think the problem is that they do not skate very well to that music. I can imagine some other pair skating to The Man In the Iron Mask and skating with power and beauty. When this pair skates, though, they seem really weak. Her lines are pretty but her skating has no spark. She just skates. And Bazarova's jumps are so bad, every time I think she is about to fall down.

By the way, I don't remember ever seeing a pair skate to Tosca. Does anyone know if it was ever used in pair skating. I know ice dancers have used it.
