Czisny's music suits her perfectly, I'd say. I just hope the Valse Triste isn't too "triste" for a well-balanced and dynamic long program. I know it speeds up a bit in the middle, but most of it is quite mournful and slow.

SP: "Illuminati" soundtrack
LP music according to Ingo Steuer "something different", "new direction", but still a secret
They showed a bit of the SP in an official training session today. It looked interesting, dramatic, according to Steuer it's about a fight of life and death, against demons. They showed a lift with an interesting dismount.
Would be a good idea to start a new thread on it, like "what music you would like to see on ice" or somesuch. It's easy to critisize but what alternative we can offer. Rammstein, for example, who can dance it on ice? No one! Or Bolero by Ravel. It has been used zil of times and yet I don't think someone could manage to express the music 100%.I have to admit I am really bored with the music choices this year so far. Is it so hard to come up with something original and new??? There is a ton of music out there waiting to be discovered!
But there are some great soundtracks out there from relatively modern movies that would make awesome and original programs. I mean, "everyone" has used the tangos from Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Scent of a Woman. "Everyone" has used PotC. Why not use something a little more obscure from a movie score standpoint? There are some really NICE, musically mature and rich scores out there (from unexpected movies) that would make wonderful programs for elite level skating that haven't been touched. For example, there was an adult in the Championship Gold level who used music from the Twilight score (not the pop music used in some of the scenes, but the actual score by Carter Burrell) two years ago (and some of the really obscure and strong pieces of it, not the obvious pieces) that was really incredible and her interpretation of it was amazing. I actually had to ask her what the music was from! Some of that score would be fitting for a young lady to skate to and some even for a strong senior man. The Narnia series has some awesome adventurer-type of music as did the Lord of the Rings series. If Todd E was still competing, these probably would have been on his list of program music (1492 or First Knight style of programs). "Everyone" has used Romeo and Juliet (Nina Rota version) but few have used the Patrick Doyle-composed music from Henry V (Paul Wylie's signature LP), Much Ado About Nothing (Tonya Harding's 1994 program), Othello, or Hamlet.

SP - To Love You More performed by Lucia Micarelli
LP - Libertango by Astor Piazzolla - version unknown at this stage
sounds generic.
Aliona and Robin always do something unusual and fresh, they have done aliens, gypsies, arabian dancers, Cirque di Soiel dancers, Out of Africa, The Pink Panther...what next?
I am in love with Voir's choices, they will probably hit it out of the park with the OD and get record scores considering their fimiliarity with the theme and their previous success in the OD. Funny Face shadows an Umbrellas of Cherborg theme, which will be most likely sublime.
Cziny's choices sound really good for her.
The A/P R&J was brilliant, and made wonderful use of the music. But Prokofiev's R&J, while not as overused as the film score, does pop up occasionally, having been used just this past season by V/T.It would be great to hear some widening of the range of pieces. For example, there are a lot of skates done to the Nino Rota score for the Zeffirelli film of Romeo and Juliet and to the Tchaikovsky R and J tone poem. But Hector Berlioz has some dynamite music for that play, and Prokofiev's music (used by Annissina/Piezerat, I think) is spectacular.
Yes, please! Someone really should get Morozov, Shpilband and Zoueva some new CDs.Many of us feel that the CoP has resulted in a standardization of movements in skating. Choosing music that's off the beaten path would help to add individuality to the presentation aspect and maybe balance out the homogenization that so many of us see these days.
