2011-2012 Program Stuff

P/T‘s SP will be "Paso",a Paso Doble pro with music from a film OST choreographed by Morozov.
and they'll skip the GPs,only attend nations and Worlds.

Apparently, lots of people say that the music was composed by Caccini. The story is that Vladimir Vavilov wrote classical music but didn't like to put his name down so he used Anonymous or an old composers name. It was his intention for some reason. That is why it's not actually by Caccini but he often gets the credit for this music.

I agree with you on this one. It is sad because Caccini gets all the credit. I do love Sumi Jo's rendition of this piece.

After watching Quebec championship it seems that Cynthia Phaneuf kept both of her programs from last season.

I've just posted the roll up/compilation of Ladies programs on the other thread, and added what updates I had to men, pairs and dance.

I agree that with the Shibs snatching a medal at worlds they should be taking the next step this season. This music choice does not seem to be it. It seem as if they are thinking we can't move up from here right now, so lets just not lose too much ground.

I think we should wait and see the program before assumptions start getting thrown around. If you guys are going to say that S/S aren't taking the next step, then what about V/M who are recycling last year's FD into their SD?

They showed it only once.:rolleye:

I was being facetious because people are already crapping all over S/S choice of program concept and haven't even seen it. S/S seems to be the current "Rachel Flatt" of ice dance. ;)

^ Oh, I don't think so at all. Many people, including moi, find them irresistible and ravishing. It's true not everyone sees them that way but I think a majority finds them more like Chan or V/M -- vastly talented and rising fast at a young age -- than Flatt. (Of course opinion is divided on Chan too... less since his quads started busting out, however... but let's not go there.)

Wouldn't it be Gloria Estefan?

PJ Kwong reports that Paul and Islam are using:

Alexandra Paul & Mitchell Islam CAN
SD The main theme from the movie 2046 soundtrack and Havana Slide
FD to Elton John's 'Tonight". The storyline is about an abusive relationship.

I can't believe I sat and watched Harvey/Gagnon's FD...Not that it's bad,but the "Paint it black" section looked so random...
The "rhumba" section looked strange,I know it's the kind of tempo the compulsory used to be skated to,but I don't like this compulsory anyway..
Oxford/Williams SD was nice and fresh

Orford/Willilams skated very strongly. Wow. Did not see that coming. The change of music wasn't quite as good as I would've liked and the non touching straight line footwork needs some work, but that rhumba seemed very polished and unique at the same time. Kudos.

;)That's because it wasn't rhumba , it was Cha cha..they're still juniors... but they look fast and polished enough to be senior. ( which i think they will be next yr. ) I'm sure they'll be upping the difficulty on that footwork as the season goes on. I'm really looking forward to seeing this in a month or two.

Purich and Schultz skated a very nice FP tonight. His jumps weren't working, but a very mature program. Does anyone know the choreographer ? Also , the music is somewhat familiar ..makes me think of some classic B&W movie. If it isn't the theme from one , it ought to be.
( the feeling was like "Laura" or " Stella by Starlight" ..that kind of thing. )The costumes are like starlight or seafoam ( well, hers is, his is a midnight blue satin shirt..with the obligatory pants, of course.) Maybe I can find the link..

Anyway, I just love the way our pairs are stepping up to the plate..only so many spots on the world team.
