It is great to have depth in a discipline. It is not only about the world championhips, otherwise you would have only 3 teams competing in a whole country. Plus you never know when things will go the wrong way, like in Vanessa and Paul's case. Or some may choose academic career like Greg Zuerlain, or get injured. The stronger the competition at home, the better for the national team.

Also , the music is somewhat familiar ..makes me think of some classic B&W movie. If it isn't the theme from one , it ought to be.

It's from Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound, the classic movie staring Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman.

;)That's because it wasn't rhumba , it was Cha cha..they're still juniors... but they look fast and polished enough to be senior. ( which i think they will be next yr. ) I'm sure they'll be upping the difficulty on that footwork as the season goes on. I'm really looking forward to seeing this in a month or two.

Purich and Schultz skated a very nice FP tonight. His jumps weren't working, but a very mature program. Does anyone know the choreographer ? Also , the music is somewhat familiar ..makes me think of some classic B&W movie. If it isn't the theme from one , it ought to be.
( the feeling was like "Laura" or " Stella by Starlight" ..that kind of thing. )The costumes are like starlight or seafoam ( well, hers is, his is a midnight blue satin shirt..with the obligatory pants, of course.) Maybe I can find the link..

Anyway, I just love the way our pairs are stepping up to the plate..only so many spots on the world team.

Thanks. It didn't look very much like a rhumba, but it didn't feel like a cha-cha either. To be fair, I don't like cha-cha and I liked that, so that might be it.

;) I like cha cha , and it felt like one to me.But either way it's looking good.

I think he ,particularly , seems more fluid this year. Someone who was at Minto said on FSU that O/W's FD is to music from " Gone With the Wind"..which got me to looking for video ( nothing so far ) and results..So far, I think they've garnered the highest FD score from the Canadian summer competitions. ( and not on home turf ).

The Hasegawas had a higher SD in Quebec (which I haven't seen).. But I caught their " Black Swan " FD..which I liked.
Had that been mentioned yet ? It had scored almost as well and so did Paradis / Ouellette..( who I've yet to see. )

^ Oh, I don't think so at all. Many people, including moi, find them irresistible and ravishing. It's true not everyone sees them that way but I think a majority finds them more like Chan or V/M -- vastly talented and rising fast at a young age -- than Flatt. (Of course opinion is divided on Chan too... less since his quads started busting out, however... but let's not go there.)
It just seems like we've heard everything from "fluke Bronze" repetitively and now it starts again with "looks like they are sticking with the same style again, hope they don't lose too much ground" when no one's even heard the music selection or seen the program! It's really impossible to know until they've debuted it. It could be a COMPLETE departure, even if on the surface it sounds like it could be similar; so from one group of posters, they are being treated like Flatt or Chan where nothing they do will ever be acceptable. I find them to be very genuine and it's nice that Maia is starting to come out of her shell. A friend of mine was an Artic club member and we've run into all the Canton ice dancers at various times in the bathroom and locker room since FS is at the same time on the other surface and when they first moved, she was VERY shy.

Not sure what Rock-Blues for K/S is, can anyone find the artist? Also, I love that they're using Clair de Lune again, that program was not rated as highly as it should have been. Perhaps they can add more technical difficulty? It's easily their best work.

Yuzuru's new SP it isn't perfect but seems promising. This is his new LP for the season from The ICE 2011. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvf0KIEvryo

While I'm crazy over his Romeo and Juliet, this SP is almost make me lost my fandom. Apart from the costume which I really don't like (Does Johnny design it for him again?) this program seems to show his weakness in his skating IMO as it focus is on suppose to be frantic step sequence but step sequence is the weakest skill of Yuzuru.
The music is also very difficult to interpret and require him to do more than move along the rhythm and make a facials expression like he usually do. He need to have better speed and strength to be able to pull this off without getting swallow by the music or like he is now. Also it seems that all the body movement he tried to do is not go along with the music and make it look a bit over the top.

Anyway, this is just the beginning of the season, the light here make it not clear how his whole program look, may be it can become a fantastic program in the competition. Yuzuru never disappoint me! (Except on his costume choice, of course!)

I don't really like SP so far either... I also do not like the costume...but i really do not like his music choice. He is still young so maybe his team is trying to improve his weakest element by making it the main focus in the SP. We will be able to see if he can make the SP work when he competes at neblehorn trophy in september.
