Ladies Free Skating - 2013 Trophée Eric Bompard

I though Wagner was over scored, scoring a 127 with only 4 triples is very generous. I am surprised she won on PCS, I found the programme very empty, a lot of skating around with not much in the way of CH, PE or IN. I think she is very lucky to win. I am glad to see Sotnikova deliver a clean programme, don't like the music cut and the costume needs to be changed. I enjoyed Anna P, she has real attack and goes for it, but her PCS needs improving. Great for her to be on her way to the GPF.

I'm not sure either Sotnikova or Anna P. deserved to win either. Sotnikova landed 5 clean triples (if we're discounting the 3lutz attempts that both her and Ashley landed cleanly albeit with edge calls) and I found her choreography lacking and superficial, so I was shocked to see 129+ for her. I've actually grown to like Ashley's R+J program and thought she was just much more mature on the ice and had more purposeful movements.

Why does Anna look so upset? You think she bombed the program and had the worse skate of her life.

Maybe she's competitive? She seems pretty happy in the medals ceremony although Sotnikova seems by far the happiest O_O It's almost as if she had won.

Anna: Strong performances from her too. She's a strong competitor and it's paying off. Her PCS are starting to rise but she has a very long way to catch up to Adelina or Ashley who are much better overall skaters. Anna did look extremely pissed about not beating Adelina...or was I just imagining things?

She skated her absolute best, landing all of her jumps and still lost. Judging from her interviews, she is extremely ambitious and she must have felt very frustrated. It doesn't necessarily mean that she thought she was better than Sot or Wagner.

I just tuned into the medal ceremony. Adelina and Ashley were waiving and smiling and Anna was just standing there.

Considering that she pretty much failed her SP and still got this sort of a score(Could be 190 clean), when her record in last year's jGP was less than 170, she should be very happy... I also feel like she still looks less like a junior than Lipnitskaia, for example(even though Lipnitskaia is better).

I don't think ashley would look ridiculous is this or junior high schoolish

I don't think she would either. I actually loved Sasha Cohen's Romeo & Juliet dresses (especially the one she wore at 2006 Nationals) and they were pretty Medievalesque with embroidery, etc. She looked gorgeous.

Or it could be a realization that Adelina will finish ahead of her if she's clean.

Anna and Adelina have been running around Paris together and seem friendly enough. I don't think they hate each other or Anna really badmouthed Adelina, she mentioned that the reporter twisted her words to make it seem that way. Anyways, Anna's coach is scary, so maybe that's why Anna was upset. Or maybe she thought she had to be 2nd to make the GPF when in reality even placing 3rd she makes it and qualifies ahead of Adelina anyways. It's good to see she's hungry for more, however, her scores have been skyrocketing over the past 2 years so really she should be quite proud and not upset. 184 is a very good score and she can get 190ish with a clean SP. GOE on the jumps cost her a bit as well, so maybe that's why she wasn't quite enthused. I like to see the Russian ladies push each other and skate well when it counts. Adelina so needed this and Pogo held her own and dug deep, putting up a PB and only scoring 5 points below Adelina with both girls making a similar number of mistakes between the 2 programs, and you could really tell Anna's jumps were off today, but she did them anyways. Like to see that in an athlete. She is gritty and fierce and it totally works with her whole look (btw, she's gorgeous in her VK photos when she doesn't have all the makeup piled on that can make her look a bit vampire-ish).

Really happy for all 3 medalists! And Cesario was great too, her new PB should ensure her a GP next season! Sad for Gao though but she's usually consistent so I think she can get to Sochi still.
