2014 Olympics Ladies Short Program

Kim's "quality of jumps" would deteriorate suddenly once the judges decided to favor someone else. The highest TES will win the gold medal, even Hanyu is not an exception. BVs are more reliable. You can't beat the home favorite who has the higher technical content and suprior spins depending only on the judges favors.

Are you actually serious. I don't know why you think Yuna has the judges favoritism. She has deserved every title she has won. Her skating federation is a joke as is their support. There has honestly been no incentive for judges to favor her over skaters from major FSing nations. Additionally, there are barely no international events in Korea. The quality of her jumps is innate and due to her ability not due to some number, which is evident when you watch her skate.

Omg I wonder how many pages this thread would be when the competition is over maybe 1000 or more lol

I'm very much serious. Koreas Federation doesn't have much influence but the corporate sponsors can. Some of the rinkside placards in "Japanese" are actually Korean ones. The quality of her jumps is always overmarked in order to make up for the low BVs, which is evident when you watch her skate.

Kim is in the similar position with Kostner at Cup of Russia. They have reputations but low base values. This type of "rivals" is easier to deal with for the judges who want to let the home favorite win.

I really love your custom titles and pictures! My favourite was 'Dance my Meryl Sing my Meryl' with a gorgeous picture of D/W  But this one is good as well :)

It made sense because of last year's FD. I would rewatch that FD over and over!

Now it's all about the Queen vs. the Gumby (with a side dish of the Ballerina, the Gazelle, the American Golden Princesses, and Japanese Christine Daae)

The tag "All that glitters is Kim" is just

Who's going to sneak into the ladies locker room and stitch butt curtains?

And thank you @Chemistry for adding extra tags as we're in the 20th page on this thread!

all that glitters is kim, antidrama bunker cookies, cheering koreans galore, queen vs gumby, we need butt curtains

Korean fans better bring the noise tomorrow and Thursday to make up the non-Russian silence at the Iceberg!

Is this 1998 ?.
It sounds like the Lipinski V Kwan debate all over again.........................

Uh, no. There was a bigger technical difference between those two, and Kwan had never done anything at the Olympics before. She was still a teenager herself.

If these three landed all their jumps in the SP and FS the judges will decide from the three options

Yuna - Reputation of a defending champion

Yulia - Home town girl favorite

Mao - Historical ( six different Jumps )

I am hoping they go for Mao because a gold medal will mean much much more if there is a HISTORICAL accomplishment attached to it . It really does seem right dont you think?

Yes, it would be historical, but I think we should refer to it as doing an 8-triple program.. haha, I mean her lutz isn't... a lutz... but it does count as a triple! :)

Historical-

Yulia first 15 yr old to double gold medal
Yuna first to win back to back gold since Witt

Right??

Such a typical uber you are bashing other skaters , did I bash your favorite skater? is that how you are brought up? no manners?

WRONG! Historical meant the first ..lipinski was 15 and Witt already did the back to back so there nothing more historical with your claim its been done already!

If Yuna falters at all, the door will be wide-open for Julia. If she skates how she did in the team event, she might win gold.

Historical Moment: First Russian to win the Ladies Olympic Gold Medal. On home ice, and in her debut appearance no less.
Historical Moment: Youngest Olympic Figure Champion in the Team Event. (Already achieved.)
Historical Moment" Youngest Olympic Ladies Figure Skating Champion under COP.
I think those would be some great moments, don't you?

As I watch the news today about Mao's practice, I noticed something different, she have this fighting spirit in her eyes makes her look so angry. she gained more confidence because of the continous support of the Tarasova team who are always on her side comforting her giving her not only tips but moral support .
I hope you bashers eat your words when she gets her first OGM.

Historical means relating to history. If you mean first time ever that is fine (just say first)but Yulia would be the FIRST 15 yr old DOUBLE gold medal winner ever. Just trying to keep things on the up and up. Nobody has won back to back golds in 30 years. Relating to history this would be a historical event. Maybe not the first but historical none the less in that in 4 yrs if Yulia has a chance to get back to back gold medals we will revisit the historical value it holds since the greatest skater of the era, maybe ever, didn't do it. That might be a bit cheeky to you especially since I think Yuna will win but why not see things from every angle possible right. Harder to be caught off guard that way.

PS - I'm pulling for Mao to land a clean program and get on the podium. I just want good skates no matter the order. That's the definition of rooting for figure skating and not just a skater.
