Really? I thought she received quite a generous score. Every single jump of hers had a hooked landing. She could have received quite a few more URs.
Regardless, good performance to come back from last night's disaster. I think she will finish fifth, behind Kim, Kostner, and the Russians. Gold and Wagner will have to be perfect to beat her, and I don't see it happening.
There needs to be serious protest from all fans and casual viewers if this happens. There is no excusable reason for that. They already set a PCS bar with Mao's skate and honestly only Yuna and Carolina should deserve scores near the PCS given for Mao.

The people at german broadcaster ARD are real professionals. While the FS is rolling they show first a medal ceremony without german participation, then a report about elder athletes' successes in Sochi. Then they remember there is a figure skating competition planned for today and show Witt's old FS from 1988. Next a report about the Kerrigan/Harding incident and an interview with Witt. And while the Great Mao Asasa performs the comeback of the evening including the last Ladies's Triple Axel for maybe many years, they show a report about a german Ski-Alpine athlete who does not compete today, only to finish it right when the ice resurfacing break begins. Now they need to fill it with nordic ski jumping. Oh those geniuses!!!
Anyway, Kudos to Mao! What a way to end a career. Well done, and thank you!

She might not be one of the great competitiors. (actually she is, otherwise how can we explain all the titles and medals she got? Just not enough nerves for ...OGM, sadly) But she is definitely one of the great skaters and fighters. I think competitior and fighter are a bit different in some ways. She is the latter. Hope she can have another skate of her life at Worlds, on home ice.

Can someone explain why her PCS is so low? This is ridiculous... PCS should be awarded based on the PERFORMANCE not whether or not she's in the last group! Isn't that the point of COP? To get rid of the arbitrary advantages given to people skating in the last group during the 6.0 system?

I love Valentina, she's a real character. I hope she has her own Personal Triumph.
I read that Polina was going try two triple/triples in the LP. Not sure if that is just a rumor.
Mao has been our Misha Ge. Thank goodness.

I think it was underscored. I would have her at 150!

Judges hate 3-3L.......hers was definitely rotated. I think the GOE on her axel was BS too. She was underscored but she still has a shot at the podium now.
