The Judging Controversy Thread

Her 3Lutz was hardly botched. It was huge and she held the landing with authority. She came down tight on rotation so that caused the tiny bit of scratchiness on the landing, but the way that caused her to accelerate on the landing and swing around so quick was actually very exciting because she managed to hold onto it perfectly. +2 is a fair mark for the jump. +1.5 would be the ideal grade, but there is currently no way to give that score out to an element.

Question about GOEs… what constitutes for a full +3?

'Cause I just went through the protocols (again) and saw that Sotnikova had A LOT, I mean A LOT, of +3s while Yuna had few.

You're right. The entire time she was either waving to the crowd or pulling a rope. Nothing else. :rolleye: Tara and Johnny are skaters, just like you, and completely disagree. Why can't we accept people view these things differently and it doesn't always have to be a controversy when our favorites don't win?

I know you won't but I will always take the views of a judge proven to have cheated and suspended before, and the wife of a Russian skating boss with a grain of salt. I maintain that Sotnikova should have won TES by 3 or so points but her PCS should have been nowhere near Kostner or Kim. Period.

If the judges can find an 8 pt difference between Yulia and Gracie's PCS, they should have been able to find an 8 pt difference between Yuna and adelina's pcs.

Just 5 would have been enough. And more than deserved for Yuna.

:bang:

Lots of euphemism here. The ideal grade is +1 as it was not clean

If anyone wants a treat, type "Yuna Kim" into google search. :)

Love what they did.

She also has a 0 for her 3 lz/3t:disapp:

Yes it was clean. It just wasn't absolutely perfect. Almost nothing ever is.

What do you have to say about Sotnikova's blatantly underrotated 3Toe not being called?

The cleaner you skate the higher your PCS go. Also they just came out of juniors and didn't have reputation with the judges so they were held back. But after winning Euros they were on a whole different level.

You also want to check out the judges panel at the Euro.

Usethis2 was referring to Sotnikova receiving a slew of +3 GOEs. First time she's ever gotten such high GOEs too.

Kim is the one who always get inflated scores due to high GOE. Now she got beaten at her own game. As for Adelina, the height of her jumps resulted in such scores.
