Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

Yes, it does appear that by her own actions and words, Tatiana Tarasova alienates people. But rather than hate her, let's just feel sorry for her. She could have been known and fondly remembered as the coach of champions. :(

The world of figure skating has more than its share of "characters," and I just hope and pray that Yuzuru will always be in a good environment and around good people and away from intrigue and machinations.

Plushy is not actually a all-time Mr nice guy to everyone (yeah he dislike Kovtun), but he consistently shows his fav to Yuzu with no hesitation.;)
Frankly speaking, the only skater he's obviously disliked(to this day) is Yagudin and it's mutual. Towards the others(including Kovtun, Chan after the team event) he's just shown his usual arrogance, it's a part of his character. In Russian media he's always stressed that Yuzuru adopted his skating and he's happy to know his fans are getting closer to reaching his mad level.
Also, it seemed to me(now I'm refering to that interview in Japan) that he just wants to get a gifted student) :p I don't think his comments are free from this motive and disinterested.

EDIT
Anyway, I like your company, ladies.

Agree!! I also have the same feeling about Plushy. Actually I think he should have agreed when they asked him to coach Yuzuru, he has been staying in the field for too long. If he weren't too competitive at that time and wanted to stay in the field, he should have had Yuzuru as a student and gained lots of respect, not all the critics that he got a month ago.:sarcasm:

Are Yuzuru's parents involved in his skating activities too? I mean, do they have any say about his schedule given that he really needs time to rest after all that he has done this 2013-2014 season?

But I wouldn´t have like Yuzu to be with Plushenko. At that time we didn´t knew, and still don´t know if Plushy will be good as a coach.

Haha I get the same feelings from Plushy as well. One of the main reasons he speaks so fondly of Yuzu, even when he was just starting out in Sr.'s was because Yuzu has always said that he admires Plushy and aims to be like him. The old dinosaur has always been arrogant and Yuzuru was definitely an ego booster for him (with yuzu being young, talented, and possibly a future multi-titled champ) I honestly don't mind cause the way this all played out just seems hilarious to me. Plushy's always going to be plushy so I'm just glad that Yuzuru's idol likes him and encourages him. :p He was so happy when plushenko gave him that bracelet/necklace

I can't even imagine how Yuzu would have ended up had Plushy taken up on the offer to coach him  Mishin 2.0....

Frankly, I think moving to Orser was the best decision for Yuzu. With Plushy, I'm sure Yuzuru's long program would be like this: 3 or 4 quads, 9 or 10 triples, spins and nothing more. There would be no Parisian Walkways for us to enjoy. Even when he change the music, the program would stay the same.

As a coach, Orser is more open and very dedicated to his student, while in Russia, Yuzuru would have received lots and lots of jealousy from Russian coaches and skaters. I don't want to see the whole Mishin-Tara students rival ever again. For a free spirit kid like Yuzuru, I would rather him stay away from drama as far as possible.:slink:

 But omg, can you imagine how monstrous his TES would be had he gone with plushy? :jaw: With 2 of the most jump obsessed skaters out there together.....

I totally agree. Plushy would have definitely focused on the jumps.

*adoptingPlushyMode* oh really? tell me more about that. I get it, we are awesome. but what do you love most about us?

...sorry, couldn't resist  no offense though! I really know very little about the man but from what I've seen around OLY time there was always this 'yes, I know that I'm awesome, but keeping telling me about it' vibe. which is kind of the opposite from the kid who goes 'yes I won the gold medal but I'm still disappointed because I messed up and didn't show my best'... I'm not sure those attitudes are compatible in the long run.
(btw: "Plushy" = best nickname ever for a guy like that. I almost lost it the first time I read that)

@makaihime
I still desperately want to know what a "boobskirt" is and why you hate it so much

Neither am I and yes, this is hilarious

Meoima, exactly

Hahah it was just a nickname that was given to his R&J2 costume on another forum. The way his ruffles goes around his chest like a skirt.. ugh :bang: I would have actually really liked his costume had it not been for that stupid boobskirt. ( silently thanking the skating gods that we no longer have to see that :slink:)

Personally I am glad that Yuzuru ended up with Brian Orser than with Plushenko as his coach prior to the Olympics as I don't think he would have gotten the gold medal otherwise. Plushenko also would have been under fire for coaching a non-Russian or worse dropped Yuzuru as a student because I understand the Russian Federation disallowed Russian coaches and choreographers from helping out with nonRussians for a period before the Olympics.

Omg...if this is true, they really went too far with all the Sochi craziness. They wanted to win under any circumstances and this wasn't good at all for the public from all around the world.

If Plushy really wanted to coach Yuzuru, I bet the Russian Federation would do anything bad to a great skater, a national hero like Plushy at least, who decided to retire. But well, if that scenario had happened, we would have seen the kid perform a quad long program without any transition and beautiful moves. His TES would be 130 but his PCS would be 60-70 at most. And he would definitely need an oxy tank right after the performance. :disapp:

If Plushy were the coach, it would be like: "No!! You have to blow the kiss to the judges, yes, look at me, like this. They will give you positive GOE for that. Now, let's do a 4S 4T combination. Good! Let's talk about the 4A.":slink:

 And last but not least, more death stares/voodoo from Tarasova.

You've got to admit it was a quite decent one from Weir
The skirt wasn't the worst thing to my mind, a black & white gradient made Yuzuru look like he has a real female waist

:rofl: I can totally see this happening

Yes, I have read that Yuzuru wanted to work again with the Russian choreographers who helped him polish his R & J 1 program prior to 2012 Worlds (Igor Bobrin and Natalya Bestemyanova) but couldn't because of that policy. Those two were full of praise for Yuzuru's work ethic and Igor Bobrin even said that while it may not be patriotic for him to say so, he wants Yuzuru to succeed in Sochi.

Plushenko's reaction to Yuzuru's Team Competition SP at the beginning of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh7cFnG_YIE

PS: Yuzuru scored higher than his idol in their first and only competition together.

I have to remove my glasses whenever I watch his R&J 2.0. You know, I call it the Juliet program. If it were not for his jumps and spins, I would have passed out before he finish the program, too much blinking and twinkling. :slink: And Yuzuru's waist and legs truly look like they belong to Victoria Serect model.
