Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

Straight-A kid Yuzu, hope we can be school mates soon

If we will become schoolmates in college, I'll take the same classes as him and I'll probably get a perfect attendance in those.. hahahahaha.. But I'm positive, in reality that is simply impossible to happen

he is enrolled in an e-program so i guess you won't be seeing him in class . Haha

[Video] Yuzuru Hanyu 2014 Osaka Gala

Despite his tired face, the skating and jumps connections are much smoother and powerful compared to last December (Japanese Nationals Exhibition). He seems to fine-tune some gestures of program.

Since he hardly escapes from intensive ice shows. I'm glad to see Yuzu to take the most advantages of shows to hone his skills!

Thank you for the video! Very nice performance

And I guess the ladies in the front row were very lucky ;)

thank God  I love those
Honestly, for me his Biellmann is painful to watch. Much like the 99.9% of men's Biellmann spins, though.
I close my eyes tightly everytime the Kid is about to perform it.)) Although he has slightly improved it, I hope this element will be removed from his routine.
Nevertheless, I love the layback Bauer.

I agree that Biellmann MUST be removed!!! (or please ban it from Male category) But I am so fond of Ina Bauer. People say Martinez have better Biellmann spin I agree but still I would rather watch ladies. Personally I think Yuzuru has better Ina Bauer because his move is more dynamic and in-tune with the music.

Ina Bauer looks great when it suits the music, like in R&J2. I noticed at other skaters (and even at Yuzu in Notre Dame program) that the Ina Bauer sometimes doesn't look natural when it is not well integrated in the choreography:think:

I agree about the Biellmann spin...just no. I think this spin is only for some skaters, like Slutskaya or Asada.

I'm going to be the odd one and say that I love his Biellmann spin :p (not better than the Ina Bauer (of course) but still lovely to my eyes).

Lol, that is most likely never going to happen. He's said that he'll probably continue doing both till his back gives out.... :bang:

On a side note, I have a newfound appreciation and enjoyment for his R&J 2.0. I was feeling a bit reminiscent recently so I went to watch some programs from the past and I came across Cohen's 2006 LP and I have to say that I find Yuzu's interpretation of Nino's R&J superior to Cohen's.

I enjoy it as well, mostly because its usually choreographed in at the perfect timing, giving it that dramatic effect. But if not timed with the music correctly and just looking at it as an element, its rather lackluster compared to the ladies (for obvious reason of course)

Me too...actually I was wondering if I am the only one that likes how Yuzu performs the Biellmann spin

Oh I think this Ina Bauer looks great and very in-tune with the music: http://youtu.be/o6Ox36xsbU0?t=2m14s
The problem that Yuzu had with Notre Dame Program was, he did not do justice to that program up until a year later.

I know that the men doing a Biellmann is somewhat of a controversy. Maybe I don't have a problem with it because I don't have the eye for it (as in I have just started watching FS so it's not like I'm able to spot technical details. It looks ok to me now but that might change. who knows :))
And when I first saw R&J2 on youtube thanks to the Ina Bauer I got one of those genuine :jaw: - moments... that pretty much sums it up

Misha Ge has a picture of him in their bus during the just concluded Worlds in which Yuzu was playing with his new Samsung phone. Misha did not mention what game it was though.

I think that was a PSV not a phone. And someone said he was actually checking his video taken during the practice. About the 2nd point, since it was from a fan's guess, and we cannot validate it anyway, let's put it on doubt

Talking about spins.
One more thing I hope for is that he'll get rid of that rough "grabbing" the blade move while performing a Doughnut spin(I had to look it up, we have a different kind of pastry as the name of the spin, huh).
To make a comparison: Denis10 at Worlds, 2:10-2:20 approximately. So smooth.

Other than that, I enjoy the Kid's spins.

I've been browsing tumblr archives and then I had a cuteness overload attack.

Oh I agree with that. I did not realize that problem at first. But once realized it, it became somehow annoying when watching it. He should not have a problem of flexibility at all. So perhaps it is a bad habit. But again as long as it is not a problem causing negative point, I don't think he and his team will spend that much time on it. He has too many other things to worry about.
