2014 Japan Open

You should have taken the picture of this hystorical event. I think during the intermission it's fine. There are penty of THE ICE videos on youtube that says otherwise than your story does.
The top tickets for JO and COI is 47,000 yen as their official sites say. How much is the DVD? You got my point. Some Hanyu fan called it "risk aversion." Hanyu doesn't want to embarrass himself with empty seats, that's why he chose not to compete in JO. Whatever. But as I said before if hypothetically speaking Mao didn't compete in JO but Dai did, there wouldn't be any risk aversion. He would skate. Mao would do the same.

I did take a photo of this historical event. Let me know if you cannot see the photos, I just found somewhere in the internet where I can upload quickly. And let me know if you cannot read what the Japanese 当日券 means.

I believe there weren't many empty seats, because I indeed saw most of the seats are full, though not every. And I assume you know it is not allowed to take photos inside the stadium, so I won't have any "proof" of empty seats during the performance, if you would ask.

I think it was a fantastic show, and price was very reasonable compared to Stars on Ice. What's more, Dai was the surprise guest that day, so I think the show overall exceeded most of audience's expectation.

I respect Mao, and I have friends who are her hardcore fans who even went to Sochi. I also respect FACT. What I don't respect is how you accuse me and many in this thread who simply posted what they actually saw or heard from reliable (to them) source "libeling". By doing this you are the one who's actually libeling. Hanyu is not even my favorite skater, I've been to more Mao's shows than his this year. What makes you think that everyone other than you is libeling Mao or Dai or any skater other than Hanyu?

OK, I've posted my proof, now where is the proof of your "Hanyu doesn't want to embarrass himself with empty seats, that's why he chose not to compete in JO" theory? You can't because this is just what you want to believe, not based on the FACT that Hanyu has never participated in JO, nor based on the FACT that the last OC never either.

I am going to JO/CaOI anyway, and I am looking forward to it. I hope in coming weeks we will see more interesting posts here for the sake of love to this sport.

@pandaatlarge, you know what you just did? You broke my heart! I was in Osaka show on Saturday and saw No empty seat, not a single one. The ticket office was shut down. I know that because I had a ticket in Stand but I wanted to buy a better one in Arena on the ice and I couldnt! The Sunday show was the last in THE ICE. They always keep some tickets off the market, for I dont know what and then they sell it on the day of the show. All the time. That was what you saw. It doesnt mean THE ICE wadnt sold out. It means on the day of the show they were selling tickets they kept off the market before. If you go to shows and competitions in Japan you must know that. Lets not musinform our GSers worldwide, okay :)?
Back to my broken heart. They didnt sell any tickets on Saturday. I decided not to try my luck on Sunday. Now you are telling me I made a mistake!

The number of DVD sold out is not a lie, if you don't want to believe us, then look at the number.
Never said it was. The "How much is the DVD?" is the question about the price of the DVD.

Wrong quote. I said "Some Hanyu fan called it "risk aversion" (the poster in post #46). Address your question to the author.

Mao and Daisuke were selling JO in 19K Saitama arena for many years, both and alone (Daisuke in 2011 with no Mao and Mao in 2009 with no Daisuke). No need to write what a better ticket seller Yuzuru is when he doesn't have the same record as Mao and Daisuke have. Nothing was on his way to prove it. He just chose not to.

Like I said before, no one is trying to 'prove' anything in terms of selling seats in a competition. Not Mao, not Daisuke, and not Hanyu. Their only focus is trying to skate their best. It is up to the sponsors, promoters and organizers to sell the tickets. How do you know his decision, (if it was his) has anything to do with ticket sales? There's not a shred of evidence for this.

I also went to THE ICE and I agree with you, almost all the seats were filled (almost anyway). It was a great show for the price and Dai was amazing!

Just saying, but I don't think any arguments (or proof) would manage to convince Alain, take that as you will ;)

I'd say the biggest 'proof' are the statements of those living in japan and seeing things first hand. And not everyone is simply a Hanyu fanatic - deedee1 said too she expected Yuzu to be at JO On a side note: I haven't seen you post in so long, deedee! Good to see you still around :)
Whatever reason there is for Yuzu not to be at JO, it's very likely not missing popularity. FT suits him better anyway, and I'm glad it gives Taka and Taka the chance to perform (especially if it's really related to Mura getting some money for his family!). We'll see how many empty seats there will be in October.

Yes, sorry about getting a very off topic. But back to the subject...Machida has plenty of fans himself now. I'm really looking forward to seeing his new programs because he has been very secretive about them. Not a peep or clip of what they might be has been seen. ...and Kozuka!
--I thought I saw Machida's name there but now I can't find it. Is he going?
Go Team Japan!

Happy to hear that! Btw, technically FrOI shows were never sold out. Hundreds of people with no tickets didnt want to leave and organizers decided to sell 'tickets to stand' with no seat in unlimited number, for the 3 floor too! The never did it before. Thank you, Shi-sama. And huge thank you to Daisuke! :)

I too expected Yuzuru to be in JO, like deedee and many fans in Japan. FYI tickets sale for JO and COI are not doing well. You can check their websites if you want. Sorry if I upset you.

--Don't you mean that they WERE Sold Out? When all the tickets are gone and all the seats are full--that is what sold out means.
I can't wait to see this year's FrOI! Daisuke and Akiko dancing together and a fashion show...can it get any better than that??

No, you didn't, please don't apologize. I appreciate your information very much, so thank you :) I just thought this "Yuzuru wouldn't sell tickets/is afraid of finding out he wouldn't sell tickets" was a pretty weird thing to say. That's about it.
