Y/M FD is great. Pure grace, and still very fast movements.
But I'm still mad at them for staying junior one more year

It's their SD. They didn't partecipate the first day, so in the second day they did the SD.

I like M&K SD a lot. If they could just be more, how can I put this...with more personality and character.

Oh, don't sorry for that.
It was a bit confusing with these tests because some skated their SD&SP, when others did their FD&FS.

About Y&M, I think it's better for them. Too many couples, not like in pairs though, in seniors. One more year in juniors will not harm them.
They could win GPF and Worlds.

Very good program and they're really good. I didn't like too much the exit from the lift, but I suppose they'll work on it.

Liza Tut's costume looks like a boudoir wrap. Combined with the music, it makes me think that she walked off the set of the silent film version of "the Sheikh".

While I wait for Japan's novices and juniors to grow up, I'm going to have fun cheering on Radionova, Julia and Liza.
I think in the costume thread, someone said they liked black tights...well, from what I've seen today and from the junior grand prix, black tights REALLY bring attention to a skaters knees. I don't like it. If you have knobly knees, please don't wear black tights.

Lutzlover, the post of AnnatheMusican's that you quoted, she was referring to Lipnitskaya's program and lutz, not Radionova. I am pretty sure Radionova has a true lutz.

Wait are you talking about Yulia? I'm very confused here because of the Radinova Flutz debacle....but if so I'm going to cry.

Yep, what a mess I was talking about Lipnitskaia's SP and her first jump, lutz, which seemed to be flutz. I think Radionova's lutz was lutz. But I'm not sure since I'm not professional.

Yeah, Radionova's lutz is solid. She has an iffy flip though. It's the other way around for Lipnitskaya (solid flip, iffy lutz).

Bazarova&Deputat: I like their LP as much as I dislike their SP. They're beautiful together but Deputat should've fixed those lifts and the twist by now. It's Vera you're lifting and she was great in that.

Pitkeev: Don't know what to think. I'll wait and see, but he is cute.

Dmitriev Jr.: Can't believe he's that bad. I don't even know where to start, and I'm not talking about jumps but the basics here.

Leonova: SP ok. Too much mimicking for me, but she was fun and I'll see how it develops. I don't like the LP at all. The cutting of the music is a big mess. The story she explained was not there at all.

Gachinsky: SP don't know...I have my doubts now. I liked the version I saw in that show in Moscow, here it was meh...
The LP I need to see it in proper condition. Big rink and full program but it has huge potential.

Radionova: I don't like her SP but it's ok because of her. I like her LP very much, although not the best music cutting.

Yulia: I like her SP. For me it's the best SP, so far. I haven't seen Adelina's yet.
P.s. I confirm, she is launching a kite and I love that idea.

Adelina: I like her LP very much also, and I thought she was in good form. The best from the ladies.

Tuk: I like her SP (although I hate Bolero). I'm not that much into her LP, mainly because of the music. But this program could work for her very well.

K&S: I like their SP and they seemes in good form.
I just looooove Manfred Symphony. It's a great program if they could skate it well (I can imagine V&T with this. ) .
I wish that I lift could go, once and for all. I'm fed up with that lift tbh.

Menshov: I like both his programs and he was in good form as well.

Voronov: I like his SP and looked good.

S&B: I like their SD. I think their lift it's over-elaborated, love their twizzels.
They need to work on their posture though, particularly her, and the pattern moves. I like their LP as well, but I can't see the story in their skating/interpretation. She is a bit flat and very generic.

M&K: Love both their programs. Very good choreo. They now should give it more, and stand out.
The talent, their connection and understanding of each other is all there. Now they only need more personality and attack.
Somehow, they remind me U&Z.

Y&M: Love their SD and love them.

Davankove&Enbert: I'm in love with that girl. She is gorgeous. He lines and movements are just oh...
Their program tells me nothing though. It's dull and I hate the vocals.

Larionov&Zabijako: Not bad at all. They're at a good stage with their elements, and better matched as a couple.

Tarasova&Morozov: Not a bad program. They are good, but I don't like the music at all.

One month from now till the season start.
And it's not like they need to be in top form at the beginning of the season.
Most skate very carefully and slow and played safe, and I can understand that. I wonder about skaters who are in bad form at the moment, can they be ready when it counts?

It's too early indeed.
My comment is more about the programs. There were some in better form than others, like Menshov and Adelina, but it's too soon to tell based on that. The programs needs time to mature and develop. That will come with the competitions.
You need to reach the top form at the right moment.

I was wondering about the purpose of the Russian test Skate. Would it be similar to that of Champions Camp in US or Canada, where they give feedback on the program, choreography, costumes, etc?

Then I understand the emphasis on the program, rather than the jump condition.

Yes, I believe that is the purpose. As with the Russian Test Skates, the Champs Camp skates are behind closed doors. The only difference is that the Russians then do a skate that's open to the public, where we never see the Americans prior to the competition season - there's no open Champs Camp skate.

Yes, it's about feedback on the programs, choreo.layout. They do that with the specialists behind close door, it was 3 weeks ago, just like in US.

Vera Bazarova said in an interview, just tranlsated on FSU, when asked how were they accepted by the specialists in the closed test skates.
She said: We had to show both the programmes and the skate. The elements were less important, hence we did simplier elements there as well.

The open skates are for the public, and the press in particular, I think.
