2014 Japan Open

I have an extra ticket for Carnival on Ice, which will beheld later in the evening after the Japan Open in Saitama Super Arena on 10/4. It is an S-level ticket (row 15). Willing to sell it at cost if anyone wants it. Please PM me if interested.

Maybe Yuzuru isn´t in Japan Open because he will be in NHK and JSF wanted to give a chance to another skater to have home competition experience.

And correctme if I´m wrong, but isn´t Japan Open a FS or LP competition only? I´m guessing Yuzuru likes Finland better because he can test both SP and LP. Those are my thoughts of the subject. I hope everyone going to the competition and show has fun.

Yes, Japan Open is FS only. Often, skaters debut their FS during the JO competition and then debut their short at the CaOI.

Prior to this year's JO/CoI, there was a 2-hr TV program on Sep 7th: Best selections from previous Carnival on Ices', counting down 20th -> 1st. From 11th to 3rd were all performances of Mao and Dai, and made me already miss them sooooo much.
Mao and Daisuke didn't win OGMs unfortunately, unlike Shizuka and Yuzuru, in the end, but these two are truly GEMS of the sport in this country.:)
-Mao from 13:28 (11th Mary Poppins, 10th Nocturne, 9th So Deep in the Night, 8th Caprice) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x25esf2_ベストセレクション-part2_sport
-Daisuke (7th Amelie, 6th Sonatina, 5th Swan Lake, 4th Piazzolla EX, 3rd eye) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x25ff2u_ベストセレクション-part3_sport

Thanks deedee! What a treat.

I love Daisuke's EYE program! One of my faves. :)

Also noting Yuzuru's R&J No. 1 is No. 2. :D

Also I love that Akiko is doing the intros!! :)

And the 1st of ranking goes to "Amazonic"(2008) by Yuzuru also.
There are 2 Yuzuru's programs in the candidate list and they are No.1 and No.2 in the ranking in the end.

Any report in how tickets sale are doing?

I don't think it goes very well. Now they have a new promotion called "beginners' seat", but since I've already got my tickets I didn't take a look at what exactly it is. And they are also planning fans' meeting with Patrick, Javier...etc (no Plushy, though:( )for those who purchased the tickets.

Concurring that ticket sales aren't doing so well. NHK Trophy sold out within minutes, and while I was trying my luck at Seven Ticket I still saw Japan Open tickets on sale -- to think tickets have been on sale since last month.

I think Saitama Super Arena is too big, and that's why I am not willing to buy Japan Open's tickets.
I'd love to see Chan, D&W, Javi, and Kozuka, but I've heard even expensive SS-seats cannot guarantee a good view.
Any advice for me?

Not very well. Now they sell tickets with even more discounted prices. :sarcasm: Here's some info that I've got via email today.

The power of OGM, isn't it? That's why some still believe he should be participating this season's JO/CoI then tickets whould have gone/sold out by now... We all understand it's not likely to happen, and none of us want him to participate of course, since we've learned about the very unfortunate news of Yuzuru's back injury. I sincerely hope he rests enough and get all medical assistance as needed. He is the only one who can shoulder the burden, to the same degree Mao and Dai have done for many years up to now, for the sake of figure skating in this country. At least for now. Hoping Shoma will be joining Yuzu in a year or two. :)

I totally understand your concern, and it is true. I've got my S seat all-events-pass for this year's WC (which is the second class following Arena and costs 18000JPY per day!), and I didn't know my exact seat until I went to SSA and exchanged the pass with my purchase document. I was expecting a good view because it is S seat, not cheap at all, and my exchange number is not big. But what I got is Row 19 at the long side corner, for four days:(

And thank you deedee1 for the ticket information, although I don't know how to react since I've got mine much earlier and much more expensive:( But to lady_bee's question, I think if it is only 9000, then it's still not a bad deal. My WC seat was almost the worst at 200 level, but I was able to see clearly what kind of jump it is, and how the skating looks like at the other side of the rink. But never try 400 level, it is really so far away that you definitely need binoculars.

BTW since I am checking out NHK tickets, I also took a look at JO/CaOI ticket price in ticket center, you can get 30-50% "discount" literally for every available ticket there, which doesn't sound bad to me.

When tickets first when on sale for JO/CaOI, I got an SS seat for JO and was only able to get an S seat for CaOI. Now, there are many SS and S tickets up for resale on sites like Pia for CaOI and I would happily upgrade my S ticket for a better seat but none of my friends will buy my S level seat and the heavy discounts on auction sites mean I am stuck with it.

Lady_bee: I will bring binoculars for the S seats as pandaatlarge recommends, but I've been to the Saitama Super Arena before and I think it is well designed and all seats will offer a decent view. :agree:

Thank you very much for your advice, pandaatlarge and Kansai PJ:)
I think I am going to get tickets of JO and hopefully CaOI, if I can get my husband as a baby sitter for my boys.
Now I can afford the tickets, since I have failed to get NHK trophy's.(more than three years in a law:cry:)
It will be my first experience to see skating competition!

You're very welcome, panda! :) and I feel for you about your ticket at JO...
re 400 level at Saitama Super Arena, my tickets for Saitama WC were all on level 400 and I watched the whole 4-day competition with my hubby from there. Had no problems and we pretty much enjoyed it actually. Idk whether it was because we had rather good sights (視力が良い far/long-sighted in English?), or simply because we are such deep/nerdacious skating fans (オタク).

far-sighted is correct, deedee! :)

I would love to go with you to a competition. I bet you're fun. I find at competition, i have fun doing my own thing -- sometimes I'm not even watching super carefully. When I was at U.S. nationals, I entertained the older ladies sitting next to my husband and I by predicting the scores.

According to unofficial source @meiln9255 on Twitter, Yulia withdrew from JO and Anna P will replace her, but it is not officially announced so let's see.

Thank you for the information. I think it's enviable since her LP comes very late. Wish my baby all the best. I've heard that Anna Pogo was injured, hope she's okay as well.
