2014 Finlandia Trophy

Cannuscio/McManus :) are blogging from Finlandia for ice-dance.com. Their first installment:

Found it the other night when I watched Henna&Ossi's long and noticed that the lift looked very familiar  Did some digging and foud this article.

I absolutely LOVE it. But then I love the 1950s New Look style anyway. Even my wedding dress was a copy of an actual 50s tea-length dress ;)

Me too and mine as well! I got married last April and my dress was short and style of 50's! Maybe we should meet in FT. :) I'll be there on Saturday. Thanks for the link to the story of the banner, it was very nice!

How cool! You'll recognise me as the one who goes "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" the loudest when someone falls

I did not know Madison and Zachary going to be competing there :yay: , Great

Lots of details about the unusual draw ceremony are in the second blog entry of Cannuscio/McManus.

Partial excerpt:
... After we painted, we were given a tote bag and paper with our Finnish identities written on them!! The identities were based off of our names translation into the Finnish language. A woman from the LOC came over to us and explained our identities and their meanings in further detail. Of course, I will fill you in on everyones Finnish alter egos. So, Stasia’s identity is a frosty sky goddess (so she is pretty much Elsa), Adam’s identity is the king of the forest, Colin’s identity is the heroic smith of the twilight, and Samantha’s identity is the glimmering twilight ocean, and plot twist, the woman told us that Colin and Samantha’s identities are husband and wife! The whole thing is rather scandalous, but they are both in relationships now so it looks like its not meant to be for their Finnish alter egos.
Like we said before it was just a crazy awesome experience. We doubt we will ever attend a draw party that will top this one!

 No, Hubbell/Donohue withdrew from Finlandia on Sep 18. :(
Cannuscio/McManus are replacing them. :)

That draw event does sound a bit crazy, but also awesome if the skaters enjoyed it!

Yeah, they seem to have gone all out and made an Event of it - no shamefaced lurking in a corner going "Um... well... we've got this figure skating competion... maybe you'd be... ?.... no... all right then.... "

I like that photo where you've a person passing by with a grocery bag, evidently arrested in midstep going "Whatever is going on there?!"

Blast, I won't be able to go tonight after all :bang:

I'll miss the ladies sp.....

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, TMC! How disappointed you must be. I hope that nothing else interferes with your plans, and you can enjoy the rest of the event!

Thanks for the sympathy - I was raging for a while :bang:

But I'll be on my way in half an hour and will be at the rink bright and early tomorrow morning!
