Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

If this is supposed to be the official version and if the translation is correct, there will be two implications IMO . The first one is that Yuzu is officially so injured that he can’t move and join the conference , the second one is that he’s not training since he can’t even walk .

I'm confused.
It probably just implies sitting cramped on a plane for hours is not good for back injury.

So,when will Yuzu compete again? I just checked the Grand Prix competitions entry lists and I saw him only on NHK Trophy...

Yes, he is schedule for the Cup of China Grand Prix in Shanghai on Nov 7-9. After that, his next will be NHK in Osaka on Nov 28-30.

What a great article! It really keeps fans posted on what's happening with Orser's students (particularly us being over-worried about Yuzu) and makes me more excited to see both of his programs!

Some quotes/parts I particularly liked from the article:

Nguyen excels in part, also because he keeps the best of company where he trains in Toronto: world and Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan and European champion Javier Fernandez of Spain. If you liked Hanyu before, better see him this year. Orser says he has two new programs and he’s never seen anything so beautiful in his life. ( And he’s seen a lot.)

Orser says he believes that Hanyu really needed to have a little bit more time off than he did over the summer, what with his many obligations as Olympic champion. Hanyu honours them all. He’s done many shows. And he’s done some wild and crazy jump combinations when he’s been at the Japanese shows.

For the first time, Shae-Lynn Bourne has choreographed a routine for Hanyu – and it is his free skate. He’ll skate to Phantom of the Opera and lest you think it’s been overdone by many skaters, well, they haven’t been Bourne’s creations.

Stay tuned for Hanyu magic at Cup of China and NHK Trophy.

(I thought the addition of Hanyu 'magic' was pretty cheesy though)

the official statement says he could not attend the press conference because he's injured, not because he's not in Japan. It would be meaningless to have an intercontinental flight /jet leg just to attend an half an hour conference when you're even injured...

Since his own coach said that the withdrawal was more of a precaution than anything I wouldn't worry too much

Orser said Yuzuru went back to Canada 3 weeks ago, more or less on September 20th...

it implies that Yuzu started his new training season in Japan , then he got injured while training in Japan, because of his injury he had to WD from FT and 4 weeks of rest/light training were prescribed by his doctor , but at that point - when he was already injured- he moved to Toronto, which is a quite an akward sequence of events IMO.

The medical certification was presented on September 17, the JSF announced his WD on September 23 and then he went to Canada to train after the injury ...

I think that the injuiry is not severe at all, as Orser said it is just more precaution. Maybe 4 weeks of light training for Yuzur means that he can jump only 5 quads per day, rather than thousand of them

Apparently, the interview was took around September 30, because it said: "He pulled out of Finlandia Trophy a week ago. " We know that Hanyu pulled out on September 23.
And three weeks ago from September 30 is September 9, so he was injured in Toronto.

That interview from Orser makes me excited/worried about the long program even more! His programs are the most beautiful thing you've ever seen in your entire life, Mr. Orser?!?!? Is this him just generating hype or what kind of POTO program is this :eek:

news are contradictory even if they're more or less official. My perception is that everything is apparent, probably , maybe , perhaps, if..... One day his injury is officially so severe that he can't even attend a press conference , the other day is a precaution.

In the worst scenario the injury is really severe ( which I hope not with all my heart!!) , in the best scenario there's something going on beetwen Yuzu and JSF, and this would be the best scenario for real because it means he's healty at least...

Akward situation for an OGM champion and expecially for the only very big champion JSF actually have

Well, I spoke with a couple of Japanese fans at Finlandia trophy and they do not worry about Yuzuru's injury even half as much as people at GS ;) I think it's better to follow their example and not to jump to unnecessary conclusions.

Actually, I'm not sure if Yuzuru had attended last year's press-conference in Japan for the GP series. I couldn't find any video . Maybe you have some info?

Easy Giulia. If his injuiry would be severe, he would have been withdrawed from GP events already ;)
