Well he certainly has the rotation down.......I'll bet we see that quad before the season is out!

that's why i wrote THIS QUAD on THIS video ;)

Oh, of course. But now...for me, the size of the 3F is what has triggered my attention. That is a jump with enormous power and height. Even his Lutz is bigger. That indicates to me bigger toe jumps all around, which gives him the height he needs for a quad.

I am interested that he is training 4S, though. To me, his edge jumps - Sal, loop, Axel - have never been as good as his toe jumps.

I don't know, there are some skaters that's hard for me to imagine them doing quad salchow for some reason :) I would like to see his attempt on quad sal

Yes, i didn't mention that cause i thought people will see when it's posted in YouTube.

I think you may be overestimating people's attention to detail/willingness to spend time on such

(I'm not being mean, I have a bad habit of looking at something like a video or an article and then asking a question about it when the answers was clearly there if I'd only bothered to take my time. Trying my hardest to fix that fault in myself, though ;) )

Did you mean to say "even his Lutz is smaller"?

I remember talking about this with you in the fan fest thread (?) and iirc after I suggested that a 4z might be possible you said that it's too small and then we agreed that the Flip was certainly big enough

I don't know if height on triple is sign that quad is possible. But I always wondered why Joubert wasn't able to pull a quad lutz o flip. In his young days in 06/07 his lutz or flip ( i don't remember) had just MONSTRUS height

I think it's more that his Flip has height and distance, and when you combine those with his ridiculous rotation speed...

Well consistency is an issue. Very few skaters are that consistent with quads. Even Hanyu isn't all that consistent and he really only got the quad last season.

After Dai attempted quad flip at 2010 Worlds, Joubert joked that he'll now have to bring quad lutz to keep pushing the sport. :)

But honestly, these difficult quads are just so, well, difficult. It's not only about height, but also about pulling in for the rotation and holding the landing. Joubert also grew up under 6.0, where falling was the kiss of death, so I can't see him attempting 4Lz/4F if they weren't stable in practice. In addition to that, they have to skate an entire LP afterwards--skaters can't just do quad lutz and go. Attempting a jump like that, either failed or successful, could have unfortunate ramifications for the rest of the program.

Exactly ! It's not like Jason's 25 years old. He has to keep in mind that his overall skating is crucial right now. He doesn't have to win Worlds ( Though it would be nice ) at his age. He can certainly be top 6 at Worlds with his PCS scores even without a quad. I don't care if he doesn't put it in at all this year as long as he doesn't complain about losing. Which, by the way, I've never heard from him or Kori.

I love Jason's skating however, it would not bother me a bit if he loses to Joshua, Ross, Jeremy and Max if they land quads and skate great programs. Jason is not prone to mistake filled programs and I think it has to do with his current lack of pressure. Obviously, this will change as he gets older and the next Olympic season approaches.

But for now, I think he's right where Kori wants him. In the thick of things, quad or no quad.
