That's the thing I don't like about Opera. You can't set the VPN to a specific country. Instead, the options are:

• Optimal Location
• Asia
• Europe
• Americas

Under normal circumstances, I would just leave it on "Optimal Location". And it generally works fine doing this. With YouTube, this takes me to the Dutch version (because you have the "YouTube NL" logo in the corner).

Given that there has been confusion here over whether the Netherlands can watch the ISU streams or not, I decided to investigate. And, sure enough, when I use the VPN set to "Optimal Location" and it takes me to the Dutch YouTube, the streams are coming up as "not available in your country".

So, I tried setting it to "Asia". And to my surprise, it also went to the Dutch version. Which was no good. Unsurprisingly, when I set it to "Europe", it took me to the Dutch version too.

However, when I set it to "Americas", I was surprised to find a "YouTube UA" logo appear in the corner. Since when was the Ukraine in the Americas?! Anyway, I clicked on the streams, and they did not come up as blocked.

So, selecting "Americas" to take you to the Ukrainian YouTube seems to do the trick!

I will probably be going for the ISU stream and will need to VPN (I use FSecure). Went through a list of countries offered (not a very long one) and it did not work with all the locations marked with an asterisk in the ISU list. Poland and Austria were ok, but Netherlands or France did not, Canada neither although it has been ok in the past.

Also, saw this tweet that might provide an access to the Javi commented competitions, but will have to wait and see how that works.

The ISU removed the USA from the Youtube broadcast list, and the Netherlands are blocked as well despite being noted to have the livestream available.

Someone really should tell the ISU their list is crap. Eurosport covers many more countries than listed, inc the Netherlands, and this “NOS (highlights only)” thing is just their standard nonsense listing for “We know the NOS loves and shows *EEEVERYTHING* related to ice skating except figure skating, neener neener”. They will pay a gazillion bucks for the speed skating TV rights, but figure skating, not a chance.

So, Eurosport WILL be airing *and* streaming Worlds in the Netherlands. They have the rights, not the NOS. And as such, as already pointed out, you will not be able to watch the youtube stream with your VPN set to the Netherlands.

I have been able to get the youtube stream working with NordVPN set to South Africa on my iPhone. Getting it to work in a browser seems a bit more tricky, but I probably won’t bother with that anyway (prefer Eurosport stream, unless the youtube one turns out to be commentary-free).

The grouping by channel instead of by country on the ISU's list makes no sense. For example, for France, there are two lines, one with an asterisk and one not:

So the asterisk is just false advertisement...

So Eurosport Germany will show Figure Skating again! And on Eurosport 1 so there is no need for the Player. Having two options is nice. Problem is I prefer Eurosport commentary to the ONE commentary....but wanna watch HD.....decisions, decisions...

Hey MaiKatze, guess what? I just discovered that I have access to ONE, too.

I never paid any attention to it, but then I read a comment (in this topic?) that referred to the ARD, and that made me take notice. I thought maybe I’d misunderstood, and the ARD would air it instead. So I just checked my TV channels in search of the German channels (which we have a fair few of), and to my surprise came across a channel called ONE HD, too.

Only now do I understand it’s part of the ARD, but not the same channel.

So, for all viewers in the regions NEAR Germany: be sure to check your TV channels if you don’t wanna depend on the Eurosport Player and/or Eurosport 1/2 HD (the TV channels’ broadcast may cut all SPs short).

Chances are if you have always had access to the ARD, you also have access to ONE HD.

I use NordVPN. It's not free, but allows you to specify exactly which country you wish to stream from. I'll probably stream directly from the CBC website as it's usually pretty decent quality. The main broadcast on TV on the weekend will have commentary, but I'm not sure if the CBC stream will??? I'd rather have no commentary than suffer through some of the other options, though.

I might give the ISU YouTube stream a go too, subject to commentary..ahem..choices.

As an Australian, I get to use SBS On Demand. I wonder if that only works in Australia, or works elsewhere too. It's free and will stream Worlds live. My girlfriend, in the US, was able to sign up for an account too, so I'll see if she's able to watch anything on SBS too. I don't know if it's geoblocked.

Haven't done a full TV Schedule post for a long time, so was more than a bit rusty. But, here goes!

This is a momentous occasion. For the first time since the 2019 Senior World Championships (yes, a full 2 years ago) we have figure skating on Eurosport’s linear channels!



As usual, the BBC is not showing coverage of any of the Short Programmes. And as a further frustration, the coverage of the Free Dance and the Gala are both being delayed until Sunday on the linear channels. But, I assume that they will be shown LIVE on the BBC website. At least, I hope they will!

So as to get this post up as quickly as possible, at the moment it only contains the broadcast schedule for the channels showing Senior Worlds in the British Isles. But, if I have the opportunity, I will add in the times for other versions of Eurosport. It’s not as easy as it used to be, as I am no longer able to check the schedules on other versions of the Eurosport Player. But, I think it is still possible to check the schedules of the linear channels on each version of the Eurosport website.

The last edition (2019) was held a week earlier than normal, so there were no complications regarding times. However, this year, we are back to having Senior Worlds being held on the week that the clocks change in Europe. So, you have to have your wits about you, particularly on Sunday.

British skating fans: I noticed that you can subscribe to British Eurosport for £19.99 for an annual pass (as long as you do it before midnight tonight). I've just signed up myself for a year (in the hope that there might be Grand Prix events and also the Olympics shown on Eurosport between now and next March 20th). You can also sign up for a single month for £6.99.

Just added Eurosport Deutschland to my schedule post, and talk about a hard to use listings page on the eurosport.de website! Not only can you not see both channels at the same time, but you can't see the whole day in one go! There are separate tabs for each channel, and each day is split into separate tabs for Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night!

Why, oh why, can they not go back to having one page for each day, with the 2 channels side by side?! Because having 8 tabs for each day is beyond ridiculous!

If all the Eurosport websites are like this, it is going to take until the next World Championships to do all the versions!
