2026 European Championships Women's Short Program

I'm not going to make it to the end of this group because I have an online tutorial to run this evening.

For context when we get to the next group, Kristen Spours had what initially looked like at career-ending spinal injury last Spring/Summer, shortly after Worlds. She lost the use of one leg and had complex spinal surgery. She had to learn to walk again afterwards. She only returned to the ice a month or so before our Nationals (which were in December). She did very well at Nationals, but was - very understandably - not at her previous standard.
Wow! So glad she was able to recover!❤️

A very good skate by Stefania! Huge 3Lz. Flying camel spin was particularly good. I feel the details and complexity of the choreography aren't giving her a moment to let the programme breathe, nor to finish some of her movements as completely as she could - she must have a lot of stamina and strength to get through it all. First level 4 step sequence, I think! Shoots into the lead.

Hang on, has she gone back to "The Nutcracker"?

She has! Not that I'm complaining. I love myself a bit of Tchaikovsky!

Beautiful combination to start with.

Triple Lutz beautiful.

And so were the two sets of spins that followed.

Just about held the Double Axel.

I still don't like that spin into hand down move.

And a beautiful Layback Spin to finish with.

Chris says she will be pleased. Having followed her for so long, she tends to be very hard on herself.

Lovely double wave and finger heart.

Sending one back to her!

She is happy. Sergei doesn't seem to be as happy, though.

She goes into the lead.

:cheer: WELL DONE STEFANIA!!! :cheer:
