2026-27 Canadian Figure Skating

Been watching the domestic scores from Japanese women - 3/4 of their skaters would not meet the 169 Canadian benchmark.
One close example is Rinka Watanabe who scored 161. Rion and Mana barely passed it at 171. Only 9 Japanese skaters met it so far.
Canada - this is a ridiculous number to expect from your skaters.

I always figured they do it purposefully so they don't have to send people out

I wonder if that's why so many Canadians are competing in US events this year. In some cases more of them than Americans.
And why Japan does so many domestic events.

I kinda like seeing the US vs CAN - it adds spice and I get to see both worlds

No judgement here, everything has gotten very expensive. Countries gotta do what they gotta do to stretch the $$

Another thing which, in my opinion, might be encouraging this trend is that US domestic scoring tends to be a little bit more generous than the Canadian events.
