And Jason taking selfies at a park in Osaka posted today. He's having fun! He's doing Friends on Ice later this month, so I wonder if he'll stay in Japan until that's over with. The shows are 2 weeks from now, but he may have other things to do in Japan. He did say he'd be back in the US soon, so maybe he'll just spend a lot of time in the air.

Jason is teasing us! He's headed off to somewhere by train and who knows where he's headed! But he's leaving Rinku. It's one station away from Kansai airport. So that might be it? He's doing a little Where's Waldo with us! But he flashed his passport in his latest post.

He did the Shenzen seminar last year. He went back and is doing it again this year. So second trip, but over two years. He is there now.

I'm listening to Jackie Wong explaining the changes in rules and scoring on his podcast. I haven't absorbed it fully yet, but it looks like spins and step sequences have more scoring potential and one less jump in the FS which means one less combo and no score for an euler. Overall, this might be beneficial for Jason, who has stellar spins and even more stellar step sequences. But if I am interpreting this correctly (which I am not certain about) I can see this being a motivating force for Jason to actually skate this season. His jumps will need to be very clean. He's not going to beat the quad jumpers who are clean, but his spins and step sequences can help to close the gap. It will depend on how GOEs are applied by the judging panel to see how this gets enforced. But it's very interesting. Jason's been skating long enough that he experienced going from 8 to 7 jumps and if he competes this year, from 7 to 6. He's also been advocating for increased points for spins and that seems to be happening this season. Time will tell how this plays out.

This is definitely a problem. The base values will be higher and he usually does get good GOEs, but PCs can be manipulated as they are vague. But I can see him deciding to test the system this season and see what he can do with it.
