Yeah, I wondered why not St. Petersburg, given the lack of facilities there...but Mishin and Moskvina are opening their own school there in a couple of weeks, maybe they don't want to compete. And perhaps it's easier to get funding if he has it in Moscow. I can't say I fully understand the situation, though. It might be just the first step since he has said before he wants to open several schools.
Yeah, that would make sense. Just first reaction went, "Even Plushy is giving up on figure skating in St. Petersburg?!"
Maybe he'll help out Mishin in St. Petersburg.

He mostly live in Moscow. Yana also works there. And that is not sure he will be a coach immediately. I believe he will give his name..

So he would like to open a school in Saint Petersburg as well, but it's not a simple thing to do so, and to get it to become reality. I remember that in the past few years, he's mentioned several times the issues of trying to find investors, suitable place, etc. (I remember that he was even possibly considering a place in Italy at one point, maybe.) In this interview, he also mentions that in recent years, Saint Petersburg skating has lost out a lot to Moscow, and that was something which saddens him a lot.
BTW, this interview is mostly about his feeling about and for Saint Petersburg, and it's really worth reading, even with Google translate...There are some quite beautiful and tender things in it.

^Thank you for the link, Whitebamboo. Reading between the lines (and Google's translation), I think he's saying for the moment the funding/support isn't there yet? I hope his school in Moscow will be successful, so that he can open one in St. Petersburg. And Plushyfan makes a good point--he might not personally teach yet.

This is the most sensible idea from Plushy ever! He will be a great coach and it certainly suits him better than any promises to go to any Olympics again.......

You underestimate Plushy - this does not preclude the other.
Note: I'm not saying that he will definitely go to the next Olympics - merely that opening a skating school is not in itself enough to stop him.
