Doris, I hope that you don't mind that I am copying over my questions and list from The Edge.

I still am hoping that someone will answer my questions.

I have plucked from the ISU calendar all the senior-level comps that are not Challenger comps, JGPs, GPs, or ISU Championships.
They are listed below.

So repeating my questions, are all of these comps considered non-Challenger Senior Bs?? Meaning that skaters at all of these comps are eligible to earn World Standings points??

Well, all of them that have senior or junior events scheduled should be on the same footing as Coupe de Nice & such last year?

i.e. they are certainly ok for TES qualifiers. for Worlds, Euros, 4CC

for the rest I have to check.

Thx for replying, Doris :).

But I have to disagree re Senior Bs (ETA, invariably) counting for personal bests.

Max Aaron' SP score was 81.49 at the 2013 Salt Lake City Classic -- a non-Challenger event, b/c the Challenger series was not created until 2014.

But his ISU PB is 78.96 -- which is his SP score from 2014 in SLC, which had become a Challenger event.

What I really have been trying to pin down is a definition or set of criteria for what constitutes a Senior B.

Or is it a matter of something being a Senior B only because the ISU says it is a Senior B?
I mean in the same way that the ISU decides which events are included in the Challenger series, although some non-included events prob. met the same published criteria.

So I am wondering whether putting a comp on this list indicates that the ISU has decided -- for whatever reasons -- to give it Senior B status.

Please know that I (obviously, I hope) am not asking you or anyone else to check anything on an event by event basis.

2.3.4 International Senior Calendar Competitions: The two best results by points per
season; the best four results by points over a period not longer than 2 completed
seasons plus the current season;

ISU communication 1629 lays this stuff out.

ISU communication 1629 lays this stuff out.

Thx, Doris.
I think I had overlooked the word "Calendar" when I previously had seen Communication 1629. (Sorry, my computer inexplicably is not letting me open PDFs at the moment.)

So for the coming season, Communication 1940 is the "Calendar" in question (along with the calendar at isu.org, after it is updated).
Meaning that thirty-eight senior competitions -- I hadn't realized the ballpark number was that high -- will be available at which a skater can achieve the two best results that will count toward World Standings.
(Obviously, any one skater will compete at most at only a few.)

ETA, additional thought/question of mine that I have copied from the Stupid Questions thread:
BUT ... I have never ever ever ever seen an official ISU document use the term "Senior B."
So one of the questions I have been puzzling over:
Is "senior international" (official ISU language) 100% synonymous with what non-ISU folk refer to as "Senior B"?

Yay, I get a Synchro Comp in December in my backyard! That's something, right? :slink:

Thanks for compiling this list of competitions! Cleared my schedule for Milwaukee's GP event in October, and already purchased All-Event tix for Boston.

Wish that Skate Canada wasn't being held in Lethbridge, as that's a small city 'in the middle of nowhere' and quite a hike for me... I can only hope the skaters listed for that event don't tempt me.

Yeah, that is my greatest fear/hope. I guess that would be a good opportunity to visit Calgary if I'm gonna be stuck out in the boonies of Canada for 5 days.

Anything else interesting out that way? Never been. Looks like northern Montana is a bunch of parks and Indian reservations.

If Liza is there, you know you'll go....

Curse you, doris! ;) I guess I'm going to Lethbridge now, regardless. Started poking around their website, found great all-event seating -- and with the weak Canadian dollar at the moment, seems like a good investment to make plans early (I hope).
