Awww, with that yellow oversized jacket Shoma really do look like a very cute baby chick  this reminds me, when I was looking up for cafe options in Nagoya (will be going there next month!) there's a really cute baby chick pudding sold by Cafe Gentiane at Nagoya station. They even name the pudding Piyorin, which reminds me even more of piyo piyo Shoma: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wwr3ApjUTM

Oh, that's right! Forgot about your trip. Hopefully you've already booked your appt with Mama Jolie's and have made a reservation for you-know-who's favorite niku place! We're counting on you to give us a detailed report of your trip! Maybe you could go to play pool and bump into Kotaro and Sho!

My Japanese is not good enough to make reservations at both, but an amazing friend reserved the niku place! :luv17: I heard both Mama Jolie and Yakiniku Rion are fully booked during most of The ICE week since June :agree:

I got to 2016 atm, going backwards through career videos, and I saw Japanese Nationals, Uno skating Loco. That costume was the best... also, I am not sure if he was skating injured at the time, but his after-skate looked pretty brutal. Sorry for a random post here.

Shoma's been announced as a member of Team Japan for Japan Open, held on 5 October 2019.
https://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/japanopen2019/skater.html

https://twitter.com/dailyshoom/status/1147070915638747137

He will join Rika Kihira and Satoko Miyahara, who were announced earlier.
For other teams, Team Europe has already announced Javier Fernandez and Team North America has announced Mirai Nagasu.

What’s JO is like? And does it have streams? Or is it a bit like ice shows, you get fan clips?

Someone who's been a FS fan longer than me can explain better, but... I'll try:

Japan Open (JO) is a Team Competition that allows pro and amateur skaters to compete (so you can watch retired skaters like Javier Fernandez and Nobunari Oda compete). There are 3 (three) teams: Team Japan, Team Europe, and Team North America. 4 Skaters from each region, 2 men and 2 women, make the team.

Unlike other competitions, in JO the skaters only skate their FS, the winning team is the one with the highest total combined FS scores of the 2 men and 2 women. The scores of JO don't get counted towards official Personal Best scores, though.

There is no live broadcast for JO, usually. Last year the fans reported on the results, and TV Tokyo aired a delayed broadcast of it, but we already know the result by then.

After JO, there's a gala by the same organizer called "Carnival on Ice". Skaters who competed in JO will also perform there, alongside guest skaters.

This will be Shoma's 5th consecutive JO: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2019. He helped Team Japan won in all his appearances, except in 2017 where they finished second to Team Europe.

New fancams from ATS, with relatively Shoma-focused videos on the group numbers:

Latremu, I was watching the fancams and realized that there are plenty of Shoma-related fantaken videos during the 3 days of ATS, so I tried collecting all of them in one playlist  Here's for anyone who wants to watch them:

I haven't included Thunder and the Opening/Ending though... maybe later when I have the time.

I thought he was going to skip JO this time.
But I'm glad I was wrong and we'll see him

Okay, I gotta ask, because i had no clue before, but are those GS make-ups all real?

https://twitter.com/luke_shoma/status/1147531600051093504?s=20

Yes, the ones in the Tweet you linked are real! The OP wrote it in Japanese, but:

- 1, 2 and 3 are from the performances in Prince Ice World Hachinohe, back in May 2018 (Grespi debut week)
- 4 is from the performance in Prince Ice World Otsu, a week after PIW Hachinohe
- 5 is from Heroes and Future, June 2018
- 6 is from Friends on Ice, August 2018
- 7 is from NHK Trophy, November 2018
- 8 is from Prince Ice World Yokohama, April 2019
- 9 is from All That Skate, June 2019

It's a chronological order and place stamps of Shoma's Grespi make-up/face paint! :luv17:

It’s the Star Festival (Tanabara) in Japan.
The Tanabata Festival celebrates the legendary meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi; which are represented by the stars Vega and Altair.
We put up bamboos decorated with poem cards and colored tapes.
It’s a day for making a wish for the stars, but it’s rainy season here in Japan.
I wrote a wish about Shoma on strips of paper and hang them on a bamboo tree.

Tanabata reminds me of DOI 2017.

I love Shoma and Keiji’s wishes.

I love Shoma in Yukata.

I’m moved to see this video.
He is an opera singer and sings about Shoma.
He is also Shoma’s fan.

Late, but thank you, rabidline! I had fun binge-watching them, with the fancams coming from different sections of the audience (and offering different angles of the same performances).

Jerrymouse, hope your wishes come true!
