Men where better in 4CC? At Euros almost all men skated their best or near the best, it was a very entertaining final, how men in 4CC did that?

For some prople Mao will never be good enough. She is a superstar and she proved why she is japan's best skater

I do agree Europeans was more entertaining and great quality in the top 3 men. I watched over again but don't think i will rewatch 4cc free programs. Top 3 women at 4cc are worth watching again though.

How can you get a positive goe on an under rotated jump (mao). The gold and bronze medalist sure did get a lot of ur's and edge calls. :eek:

It's now up to the judges' discretion. GOE rules were relaxed to allow for it. Only falls have to be in the negative (for the free skate).

Gao was so close to the podium. But she did well and so much better than her compatriots. Not sure if this will change any of the US judges' opinion, but oh well.

It is up to the judges. It was reasonable to give positive goe if they did not think the jump was under rotated, even though the technical specialist thought it that way.

The only underrotated jump pass that she got positive GOE for was the 2A+3T<. It didn't seem underrotated in real time and furthermore she only got +0.07 GOE for it, so I'm not sure what your point is.
About the edge calls, the top 8 (!) in the free skate got one each, so I don't know why you're singling out Mao and Kanako.

The British commentators said Gao had the flu at Nationals. I never heard that reported during Nationals.

Gracie has been seeing a sports psychologist, but if that was really her problem here, it doesn't seem to have been of much help.

She and Mao had the same number of Ur's in the long program. She has longer to fix her's than Mao does at this late stage of her career.

Wow Mao!! that was really beautiful, regardless of urs . If someone told me a month ago that she would lang a 3a and a 3-3 in the same program this season I would have told them they were crazy. She really is a special lady :clap:

Sorry, I didn't mean to single them out for the edge calls but for the UR's. My point was that I was surprised you can get a positive goe for a ur. Intuitively one would not think that to be the case. I didn't know the rule about it. Personally I think the tech call should rule and the computer program change any positive goes in these cases to 0. Even that is not the best solution as the jump really should get some negative goe. What is the point of having a tech caller if he is going to be overridden in this manner. If the referee thinks his call should be reversed that is another matter.

:thumbsup: Nope, you are not the only one. I think a lot of people think this is Kim's World to win. I think one of the major differences between Kim and the rest of the field..she makes skating look absolutely effortless (shows up in PCS..skating skills). Because we haven't seen Kim that much, we are prone to judge what we immediately see in front of us e.g. the Japanese skaters, Gold at Nationals, Osmond at her Nationals, and Kostner at her nationals (people seem to be forgetting about Kostner too in this thread... bad oversight IMO) etc. But as i've said before, Kim is on a mission and I don't think the rest of the field can do anything about it...even Asada with her 3A...although it does make it a lot more interesting.

Im late but wow, Congrats to Mao, she's back ! :love:

Im shocked Osmond didnt get overscored, but then again this wasnt held in Canada
but I am almost certain even with 2 falls, Osmond will be in Top 5 at Worlds as it i will be held on home ground and the inflation will be back

But, whatever the naysayers still need to complain about, Mao is a real champion! :love:

The development from the beginning of the season until now is just incredible. Even if she didn't fully rotate all of those triples by now, this was her first attempt at a 8-triple program, and for that she did really well. Both calls on the 3A and 2A-3T were quite strict (though justifiable), maybe another caller would have given credit to those jumps. If she continues on like she did this season, and keeps getting better, she might really manage a 8-triple program in Sochi! :bow:

You can never count out Mao, never ever. Since 2010, she has reworked her jumping technique, and additionally even made progress in other areas too. And despite my initial reaction, I even like her new dress.

Very happy for Akiko and Kanako. Both had amazing skates. There was so much beauty in the ladies competition. Worlds will be so exciting!

Chrisitina did really well too. Hopefully, she will continue like that next season and will show the USFSA who's boss :biggrin:
