Things to note:
1. four men are going for 4-3 in their short programs.
2. Jialiang Wu is going for a quad lutz :eek:

in his free program. Interestingly, he's not trying any quad in short.

1. Ashley is still trying 3z-3r in both of her programs. See if she has success this time.
2. Miki is going for a quad. See if she actually tries.
3. Laura Lepisto included a triple lutz and a triple flip in free program. She plans a 7-triple program.

I really hope Ashley can land her 3-3, they were both beautiful at nationals last year. I also would love to see Miki finally land that pesky quad of hers.

I had the same question about Brandon Mroz at Skate Canada :laugh:

Seriously, Inoue/Baldwin also had nothing reported before Skate America. For SC, I think it was Joannie's layout that was short a jump pass and had a weird "error" entry. Some other jump pass entries turned out not to match the actual program, and I don't mean in the sense of an accidental UR or inability to get off the 2nd jump of a combo. Just plain didn't match.

I think maybe the skaters aren't required to submit their program layouts? And if they do, there can be errors and just changes of mind.

Or, planned layout can correctly predict possible screw-up.
If I remember correctly, Carolina K had 2flip planned in her free program layout, and she indeed doubled the solo flip.

Actually 2flip was indeed her intention. She included such jump layout before. :rock:

It can't be a typo considering he has 2 other 3Z planned in the program, unless it was meant to be a 4T.

I agree, could be a 4T. Even the bravest quad kings have never tried a 4Z in competitions. Again, the planned element sheet is pretty much useless. Many, if not most ladies at Skate Canada/Skate America planned a seven triples program, we all know how that turned out.

Michael Weiss used to try the quad lutz in competitions all the time. Unfortunately, even his closest attempts were 2 footed.

Indeed he did. And didn't Oda try a 4Lz a time or two? Or was it just rumored or seen on practice ice?

He hasn't attempted it in competition yet. Lee Barkell and fans from Canada and Japan reported that he was landing them in practices, though. However, Nobunari said that he's not going to try it in competition soon (maybe at the Olympics), because while he can land it, it consumes too much of his stamina to put it into a program.
There's no new footage of him landing 4Lz, sadly. The latest video that was broadcasted was from before Worlds 2007:

(00.57; one fully rotated but with a fall, one landed but somewhat UR)
That was before he switched to Morozov and had his technique corrected, so it would be interesting to see him attempt it now. I've just read a report from West Japan Championships which took place this weekend and apparently Nobunari landed 4T-3T-3L as well! Too bad nobody taped the practice sessions.

Plushenko has, actually, but he underrotated it and fell.

Though her planned sheet is the same as SA, Miki has been working on her programs with Morozov these few days in Japan, so let's see if any improvements can be seen.
It was so short a time but I'm sure they put in efforts in the PCS area.
SP should have started about 20 minutes ago.
