Official Practice sessions begin today (Thursday, Oct 25). Anyone attending who has information from practices please post for us here.

I got excited when I saw the thread title.

Please, please post some practice reports. I can't wait. :)

About two hours ago TV-asahi showed the video of Miki practising in the official rink.
Her moves were veeery elegant compared to her last season, there's no doubt.
She had a big taping on her right shoulder and didn't do jumps, just checked the timings of jumps.

No other skaters were aired, just a glimps of a small skater (lady) in the back view of the reporter. Might be Gedevanishvilli or Zhang.

I thought Miki's spirals and general posture looked much improved at the Counter Match, despite the nasty fall and the subsequent wobbles. I also quite like her dress. Great color, it suits her.

Too bad about her shoulder. Did they say how serious it is? She hurt it in that fall, and she had recurrent dislocations last year.

Ok, I can't stand it anymore! Doesn't anyone have anything to report from the practice sessions?! Pretty please??

since this is a USFSA run event... are people even allowed into the practices :sheesh:

No practice reports yet? Shucks. :p

But icenetwork.com has some FREE practice videos!

Nobody I really want to see is there (yet) though. Just had a brief look at Evan's practice. So melodramatic... and he looks less masculine than ever -- somehow all his movements are more rounded, less sharp, almost spineless (in a physical way). And I wonder if he refuses to point his toes on purpose to add to his masculinity... Ergh. That's a pet peeve of mine. I can't stand skaters who don't point their toes...

Excuse my ranting. I'm getting cranky after waiting all day for practice reports.

This videos don't work for me. When I click on the link nothing comes up. How do i fix this problem? Thanks!

Check out Carriere's beautiful Flow over the ice and that perfect 3Lutz. The Footwork is good too. He just may be on the podium.

Hmm, maybe you're using firefox, and it blocks pop-ups? If so, you can disable pop-up blocking for this website.

Nice 3Z. I see the flow, but he's really slowing down toward the end of the footwork sequence. I'm not sure it's wise to let that seq fade into the end like that. Artistically it may be nice, but PCS-wise he'll get dinged for that.

Takahashi's music/choreograhy is quite unorthodox! I'm curious to see how the judges will take to it. They didn't seem to like Joannie Rochette's music/choreography last year at all, though that was unorthodox in a somewhat different way.

An article with some tidbits of info about yesterday ladies' practice session:
http://readingeagle.com/Article.aspx?id=65529

U.S. teammates Kimmie Meissner and Emily Hughes, who both live on the East Coast, bypassed the opening practice session to train closer to home.

Zhang, who lives in Brea, Calif., showed a small crowd the moves she hopes will make her a contender in the first International Skating Union Grand Prix event of the season.

Since it was a "small crowd", maybe that's why no practice reports have surfaced. Besides, Kimmie & Emily weren't there, so nothing to report anyway. I'm curious how Kimmie is handling a 1-month-old LP, and how Emily is adjusting to juggling skating with Harvard...

This article is such a teaser! "...the moves she hopes will make her a contender..." How about telling us what some of those moves are?! :p

Icenetwork has a diary on Skate America:
http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071026&content_id=35436&vkey=ice_news

But it's apparently written by someone who's never seen figure skating before, so I don't expect too much technical description. The person arrived fairly late yesterday, & so only manage to cover the pairs. The British pair Kemp & King apparently made quite an impression. The first batch of practice photos also includes one of them which caught them in a pretty good throw jump moment. I don't believe I've ever seen them in competition before, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm a bit surprised, because GBR hasn't had a good pairs team in ages, and in several of the past years, their National's didn't even have a pairs event due to lack of entries. I'd love to see this pair do well!

Oh, and from the sound of it, the diary should continue with the rest of the competition, so stay tuned...
