Do we know who the 4 finalists are other than Spokane? I had heard Boston (using RI as a base) was one....

Finalists for 2010

Now I am wondering what the other 2 finalists are.

I would guess that Spokane and San Jose are the other two. I think I saw a rumor that Atlanta was bidding again, but given their performance in 2004, I would think that they would have been bounced out.

any idea where the 2009 Skate America will be held? I wonder if that will have some influence on where the 2010 Nationals are to be held. Boston would be great because I would be there!!

wasn't it just in Spokane? i hope Boston gets it.

It was in Spokane last season if I'm correct, but from what I know they did a very good job with it.
I'd love for it to be in Boston as well, because I could get a shuttle from school most likely for at least one of the events...

2010 US Nationals

I've read the same 3 - Spokane, Denver, and Providence (hosted by SC of Boston. No idea who the fourth club is - though I read Detroit and San Jose might be involved.

The whole idea of running the event over 2 weekends is not a good thing for me and I might have the choose between pairs/men or dance/ladies.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be in Boston. IIRC the last time Boston hosted Nationals was in 2001.

If they split up the Divisions into two weekends, I will not attend the Nationals in person. I will sit at home watching them on IceNetwork or some other medium.

I did enjoy ESPN360 and I am worried that the edited versions by NBC will just not do for me. Half the poor ladies will get up way before dawn to skate the morning competition, and we wont see them on NBC. However, for the commercial benefits we will see the last 12 skaters. Not my cup of tea. IceNetwork, do your thing!!

Didn't they shove the last 12 Men on tape for another night and time slot? Unfortunately, I am a fan of figure skating and that includes all the Divisions not just 3 dance and pairs teams. And love to watch Juniors and maybe Novice. Just too many skaters I don't want to miss.

I suppose NBC did a market research for this set up. However, I do see a lack of audience in the arena. I believe the faithful attendees will not show up for two weekends. The half empty house doesn't bode well for figure skating.

Hopefully IceNetwork wll come to the rescue.

I agree with Joesitz about watching juniors and novices. Spokane was my first trip to U.S. Nationals and I spent most of my time watching all the practices (and competitions) of the junior ladies--all the junior ladies from the worst to the best. This experience really enhanced my interest and enjoyment of figure skating. It also increased my disappointment when the spectators were not allowed into the practice rink in St. Paul.
