Yes and rightfully so! But heartbroken for Machida and very happy for Javier and Voronov! Yuzuru is so very special!!!!
Almost a world record with a fall. Just...unbelievable.
Just so that we have the data in front of our eyes while we field our criticisms, let's pull up the scores... Let's compare, WR for Total Score goes to PChiddy, at ISU GP Trophee Bompard 2013.

Hanyu: Base=44.36, TES=51.11, PCS=43.97 (1 fall on 3Lz+3T, with -1.90 GOE and -1.00 deduction)
Chan: Base=42.70, TES=52.34, PCS=46.18 (No negative GOEs nor deductions)
LP
Hanyu: Base=88.04, TES=103.30, PCS=91.78 (1 fall on 3Lz<, with -2.10 GOE and -1.00 deduction)
Chan: Base=82.77, TES=100.25, PSC=96.50 (No negative GOEs nor deductions; this is also WR for LP)
Total
Hanyu: 288.16
Chan: 295.27
As I see it, Hanyu's LP technical content beats Chan's hands down. He lost a total of 6 points from his 2 falls, and ended up about 7 points short of WR. Had he not fallen, he would have been about 1 point shy of WR.
From your comment, you cite the fall as the reason why Hanyu shouldn't be scoring near WR. So, then, it stands to reason that you also think a perfect Hanyu is not worthy of being 1 point shy of WR. Is this what you truly mean? Do you not believe that a perfect Hanyu is as good as a perfect Chan? Maybe you do, maybe you don't. If you do believe so, then 7 points short of WR is well justified by the data. If you don't believe so, then it must be for some reason other than the "but-he-fell" excuse that you don't believe so. Either way, my point is that it's disingenuous to use the "but-he-fell" excuse to justify your displeasure at the scores.

It was grateful to see what Yuzu's long program should have been looked like in the early season, if it had not been for the unfortunate accident. The short clips revealed during the summer were so beautiful that it was painful to wait the whole piece together. Hits stamina dropped significantly after the 3a1l3s combo, but he finished the program with smile. I hope he keeps the momentum and be 100% or more by WC.
It was great to see Javi on the podium! He fought for a few landings and steps,but he did not give up and responded to the great support from his home crowds with a silver medal. But his program seemed too busy. He has the insane jump layout and the complex steps. He gave all but still not enough to pull to the end of the program. Wouldn't it be nice to change some of the steps slightly easier ones allowing him to spend the energy on bringing out the character more?
Voronov was my favorite in men's event! I think he was the skater who was received by the crowds best. He invited the crowd into his skating and the crowds were with him every moment, even though his jump had long set up, and steps were rather simple. I enjoyed his performance!

Great skate from Yuzuru, beautiful 4S
but this was a technical skate rather than an emotional one. Which is completely understandable considering what happened in his last 2 outings. Can't wait till he gets back to his 100% (or at least 99%). He's IS so much better than this (artistically), and I know he'll put 1 and 1 together eventually :agree:
Feel for Tatsuki....that has got to be hard to take especially since he looked like he was so ready for this season.
Wish everyone is healthy and ready for nationals.....good job :yes:

Wow what a dramatic FS!
Well deserved win for Hanyu and nice comeback for Fernandez.
The scoring I'd say was pretty fair. Hanyu wasn't too overscored on PCS and obviously earned the win with that massive technical score. It's crazy to think what his score would have been had he landed that lutz... Certainly over 200. Great comeback from his previous GP showings. Overscored in the SP but the FS was a solid score - obviously the judge who gae 9.75 for PE can go shove it but for the most part the judges got it right.
Feel horrible for Machida though. Just goes to show that evens strong first GP doesn't mean anything and the vice versa.

It's wayyyyy too overworked. And has little to do with POTO. I frankly prefer understated outfits but that's a gaudy costume even if the design looks kinda neat.

I wholeheartedly agree that I see no connection to the POTO. Lol, anyone explain to me the idea behind Yuzuru's new costume?
At least it looks less horrible than his Dying Juliet costume if you know what I mean, that bob skirt!!!

Maybe it has nothing to do with POTO. Perhaps after CoC, he decided to use the tin foil method in an attempt to reflect bad thoughts/vibes?
I agree with one of the posters who said he should bring back the original costume, blood stains and all. It just adds to the drama!
