Satoko's jumps were clean, except for her 3F which was marked ! for unclear edge, got 99% positive GOEs too. I did enjoy her skate tonight and I hope she improves this program from here on!

When did they decide to not implement that jumps<1.5 revs still get points, anyway?

Some quick impressions from Sesto before the Pairs begin: really impressed by Satoko, her program was really magnificent and she was the only one who was able to create an "atmosphere" inside the rink during her performance! Really really impressed by Joshi artistically, but the mistakes in the jumps had to be penalized. Miller was great, too, but let's just say that the technical panel was REALLY generous with a couple of jumps' rotations...

Maybe she didn't want to waste a good attempt for warm up. I also don't do the elements that I usually struggle with at the warm up. If it goes wrong, it would make you even more nervous and if it goes well it doesn't mean anything because warm up doesn't count.

They looked too tentative from the start, even the open test skate was better. One would have thought that the SP performance would have been an encouragement for them. Technical issues aside I think the mental issues are the ones they need to rein in. OTOH I hope I'm wrong here and it really was just an early skate in the season, but why barely a clean jump for Vera?

It seemed like this competition came too soon for Bazarova/Deputat. Would they even have competed if it wasn't just a small Sr B? They need a lot more time, it looks like. We know Vera has trouble getting the jumps around, but it must be even harder to jump when you're lacking some confidence in the rest of the program, too. They don't appear to have the mileage or all the technical elements down yet.
