2014 Nebelhorn Trophy

With his hair, costume and music Jason is full on aspecting Philippe Candeloro and I L O V E it.

Yeah, agree.

This program has a HUGE potential. I can see it in the 9 + range for PCS. Loaded with difficult entrances into a jump and tons of in-betweens. Jumps looks solid but it will improve more as time goes on this season. He's a total package IMO.

So he won with 4 urs so with no urs its even more likely hell win worlds with pcs and goe for spins and steps and level 4s.

Not sure what the sounds were supposed to be. I don't know really know the story of Tristan tbh, except that he dies at the end or something so I assumed it was poison.

The 3axel will always be a problem jump for Jason. He stalks it and underotates it a lot. The quad might be a lot easier for him though just like it was for Chan and Lambiel.

Oh my, Jason is such a fantastic skater!

he impressed me a lot last year and now I am speechless, what an artist he is

The gulping noises completely break the spell for me. Dang! Why do they do that? I would have thought Rohene Ward would be above that. Other skaters have used it in the past and it always drives me wild to hear it. Same goes for dogs barking, gunshots and shouting , etc.etc. It just seems hokey.

But having got that off my chest.. .. a well deserved win for Jason.

I love Menshov's music.:slink:

I enjoyed it too... I was going to slink away after you, but decided to stay and brazen it out.

Hey, I'm used to it. I love something - or really enjoy it - or really like it - and I come here... and almost inevitably I find a comment about how horrid that was, or how something or other was wrong with this.... So.

I also really liked Jason's costume - and his hair! Yeah! I'm sure there were other things I iked that others didn't, but I've forgotten now... :)

I'm so flipping happy that I can't stop smiling! 4 weeks left till I go to Chicago to see him skate at Skate America! WOOHOO!!!!

With no more urs, I think it's a possibility. If he jumps higher with nice landings and flows, imagine the look of that program. But I think a quad will eventually be in his repertoire. That would make him a great champion! Better than Chan!

Glad that you took advantage of the free live stream, CKH. Congratulations to Jason. :)
(I hope that we will see you over in Jason's Fan Fest thread too  ... can't remember whether you already have been posting over there.)

It also means that (unless i slept through something) that American' Men have won all the challenger events so far.

So good luck to Stephen Carriere at Ondrej Nepela!

Yes, the U.S. men are three for three.

Did anyone really hate on it? I thought the violin was super screechy but hopefully that's just the tinny sound of the stream and it sounds better in person. I thought Menshov was really good and like the program as well (violin aside).

I thought this was a good podium. I'm sorry about Balde, though. I like him and both of his programs a lot.

Well Jason has some work to do. That's pretty low TES....but that PCS 85+ As a fan I'm thrilled, but I think I would've been fine if he was more in the low 80s. He did seem relatively tight. On the other hand, he did keep the performance level high.

I love this program so much more than the short. Imagine what it will be like when he relaxes a little and fully rotates those jumps!

I haven't posted in it. I definitely took advantage of it! I was watching his FS. Thanks to my friend for showing me the link.

I don't know (remember) if anyone exactly "hated" on it... however, there were... remarks.... (she said, darkly)

Hey I enjoyed Menshov's MUSIC and program. I appreciate him doing something outside the box. And he performs and sells that baby too...That helps!

You are saying it seriously ?

Because I am serious! People are always like "he's a jump behind- he cant medal ,he can't win" that's not true! It's never been the case! All the other stuff is just too good. Amazing level. Didn't need 3a in jrs when jrs were doing 3a and quad and doesn't need quad when others have 2 quads. There's more than jumps!

With no more urs, I think it's a possibility. If he jumps higher with nice landings and flows, imagine the look of that program. But I think a quad will eventually be in his repertoire. That would make him a great champion! Better than Chan!

I doubt the quad is a necessity for reasons above.

FWIW, Jason seems to have these early season hiccups. They are not so drastic that they constitute meltdown, but they are enough to adversely affect his TES. It usually occurs in a FS early in the season...then somehow works out any kinks then kills it in the next competition.

Exhibit A: JGP Japan 2010 (http://www.isuresults.com/results/jgpjpn2010/jgpjpn2010_JuniorMen_FS_Scores.pdf): FIVE URs. Next competition: Nationals, clean program brings the house down.

Exhibit B: JGP France 2012 (http://www.isuresults.com/results/jgpfra2012/jgpfra2012_JuniorMen_FS_Scores.pdf): 3 URs, edge calls on BOTH lutzes. Next competition: JGP Turkey, which he ends up winning. Later on in the season: Winning Jr. Worlds FS with what is still the highest JR Men FS score today.

Exhibit C: Skate America 2013 (http://www.isuresults.com/results/gpusa2013/gpusa2013_Men_FS_Scores.pdf): << on the 3A, lots of -GOE on jumps. Next competition: Trophee Eric Bompard, gets bronze. Later in the season....well you all know what happened. :)

So all things consider, Jason did OK. I expect him to be better later on in the season as he gets used to this layout.

Meanwhile, streak of clean SPs continues. 6/6.
