I agree. I like theatricality but the sprinkler move is just one step over the line of what I enjoy.
Well, someone must like it.... anyone?
What is the "sprinkler"?

Eeeerm... what's the sprinkler? Never knew a move was called like that![]()
You're right! Never thought about that... So we have even an "intellectual" point against the sprinklerCount me in the WTH class with the sprinkler! The move was developed in the 1970s, so there's NO reason for it to be in a program to 1950s Chicago blues music...

This thread has been terrific.
Thanks esp. to sequins for your play by play; to Mrs. P for information and analysis; .... and to Alex for EVERYTHING.

Just got home and have to say it was a great event with great people. A couple of articles you already got and I still have so much to tell and will post my column tomorrow. Its almost 10 PM now and I was stuck in the train like forever
On Tuesday I already leave for the JGP ^^ so there is no time to waste and I will try my best to give you all a nice read once its online. I have already written a few pages in the train
If you don't get an answer about the deductions I will know whom to ask and will do so at the JGP and then give you the reason for it.

)OK, I'm on the other side. I *like* what everyone is calling the sprinkler. And here's why.
It's NOT "the sprinkler".
I think we need to lift ourselves a little out of our own cultural milieu and return to the blues dancing of the 40s,(no, I wasn't around then. The spousal unit was born in 49, does that count?)

The entire program seems to me patterned after the "look at me" solo blues dancing of the 40s. It does trouble me that so many are willing to see this a some sort of 80s dance move rather than a play on the shake blues dancing of the 40s. I hope the same sort of cultural presuppositions don't hurt Jason in future competitions.![]()
???Oh boy. I think I'm seeing a glimpse of what's going to happen with some fandoms in the next 4 years.![]()

What are you talking about? El Henry provided a valid response to a question and it's been fun actually to discuss this...
Unless you are referring to something else..
