2014 Olympics Pairs Short Program

I think the marks for all are a bit on the high side. I think the Canadians were surprised with their 72, they looked quite happy seeing it but were a bit deflated as their skate finished. I would have them under 70, poor landing on the lutz, scrappy 3TW and steps were of at the start.

Very impressed with S/K, they looked nervous but they really delivered, they have come on in leaps and bounds this year. Still I don't think it was it a 75 but they are rightly in second place. Probably the best short of the season for S/S, they really have put the pressurre on V/T, if I being honest from a TES it was great but at times the music and them didn't seem right.

The Italians were a bit of but that lift is really impressive. The French stepped it up from the team event. I hope P/T skate well.

I'll be interviewed about, why I love to watch the Winter Olympics (it's not terribly popular in Denmark).
I need to come up with an answer longer than "Figure Skating, duh!". Help?

It's a great way to see different athletes from around the world and to see sports that you don't normally get to see.

Uh..something like "So many people from all over the world coming together to celebrate sports" ?

And Marissa and Simon will not finish any lower than 9th in the SP! Yay. It's very unlikely that they'll sneak into the penultimate group, but who knows.

This group is so competitive. Amanda and Mark score a point higher than Zhang/Bartholomay and managed to get into the top 10 in the 2010 olympics while Z/B will likely place 14th for their placement.

Speaking of with, yay for the Wendes for their likely top 12 finish; they didn't qualify for the free skate in 2010! And Vanessa James improved greatly with her new partner as well (she was 15th with previous partner Yannick Bonheur).

I suppose this is one benefit of having the TES minimum.

I know. I checked the scores from 2010 and C/S would've been in 6th after the short. :)

Tell 'em it's got more Drama! Intrigue! Twists and Turns! than a soap opera--and much prettier too! Best show in town!

Is there an ice resurface? I thought this was live. They are talking about women's hockey on my TV.

Savchenko/Szolkowy gave a near perfect performance, yet barely got 9s. Volosozhar/Trankov got higher PCS for their disastrous FS at Euros.

So yeah... V/T indeed seem to have a 3+ fall advantage. :/

I like their short and all, but secretely am wishing for them to make mistakes. I knew this would happen, but in my heart I still had a little hope left.....but S/S skating flawless is all that should matter.

Well as CanadianSkateGuy pointed out, it does appear to be Cup of Russia all over again. Tis a pity.

Surprise surprise. The Russian teams are getting the handicap.

So frustrating.
