2014 Rostelecom Cup Men's Short Program 11/14

You know I have heard you can get carpal tunnel syndrome from patting yourself on the back too much.

;)

Ok, I'm jealous. I'm going to OWE points by the end of this! LOL!

Don't worry about me, just let me enjoy my fun for now. I've done pretty badly the past few weeks :o:

Ugh, one down another to go tomorrow. Please deliver tomorrow Javi :drama: My heart can't take you not making it to GPF's

It cannot be understated how much I love Javier's program. It's one of the few lyrics programs I like this year, and it's PACKED with content. But there's still time for the nuances and interpreting the music. Those skidding spread eagles before the 3A is my favourite part. And good on him, that most definitely clinched his spot in the GPF.

Easily the best men's SP on the GP in a while.

yep yep yep! except I'd describe it more as a rock jazzy rhythmic rather than lyrical. You need power, brawn, flair and stamina to make it work. That is why it is a great program, only men can truly do it justice.

you must have latino hips to make it work (He is new the new JLO of the block)
Soo Hanyu don't even bother to try!!!
I loveeeee Javi!! High hope for him to make it into GPF! Even though he looks a bit pale.

And the image of Hanyu trying a hip-ography makes me shudder :hopelessness:

Ohhhhhhh.....I tried so hard to organize my day round the second flight of men; missed them all :hopelessness::disapp:

But I do look forward to reading through this thread in bits and pieces today and will try to watch videos tonight!

Btw... was the men's SP actually better than the women's SP this time around? 'Cause my first instinct says, "Yes!" Nah, I must've overslept and am now dreaming about the entire competition.

Aaron just fell on the step sequence...

Definitely not a fall for Max. He did not receive any deduction. Touching the ice is an intentional part of his planned choreo.

That smile! He was smiling almost all the way through it! And not that sort of "I'm concentrating and smiling" face, but an actual smile!

:agree: :yay: And Max was smiling in the Kiss and Cry -- reflecting his love of competition, I'd say.

I really like this footloose program for Max. Except for the butt spin, of course. Stylists out there - what should we do with his hair? None of the interventions so far have worked.

Shorter curls also look good on Max. :) Like this:

Remember there is still the long program and there's only 5 points between 2nd and 6th right now... :)

Battle!!

:agree: Thanks, Mrs. P.

Shep Goldberg's death might have affected Jason today, as @WMonsterWaltz reminded those on Twitter. :(

Good for you!

:cheer2:

Thanks :) Bet it'll be the best score I get the entire GP. But with the men you never really know until it's over..

Please no. Yuzuru still looks very much like an older teenager.

Wait, didn't he get pretty hip-y in that one exhibition of his? ::unsure:

Yep, I believe it was!

Javi's hips indeed don't lie. He's got a very suave short program. Bring it in the free Javi!!

Get ready to shudder Meoima

That's exactly the ex I was thinking of. Was it to U2?

I have tried soooo hard to erase this image from my mind. Why you...

On a better note it seems he is still embarrassed about that ex program as well. :laugh2:

I am happy for the men today. All of them have done a great job!!!

And Javi!!! I knew it I can place my hope on you!,

Protocols are out: no level 4s for Max, and a level 2 on the flying camel. Also, the judges not feeling particularly GOE friendly towards him.

I still feel weird that he's skating this program better and better all the time, yet his scores seem to be going down rather than up. Huh?

So realized that 76+ is actually the worst score Jason had received in the SP since he became senior. :( I'm hoping he will do better tomorrow.

You, my friend, have just sucked away all my elation at the surprisingly good men's SPs.
He was just 15 by that time dear.

Don't try to be Javi, Yuzu. There is only one Javi who is on the way to become the JLo of FS world!

I remember the pure joy and elation of him and Joshua scoring 72s and 74s when they were Juniors. Sigh.
