2014 Rostelecom Cup Men's Short Program 11/14

Almost 5am, so I'm about to crawl back into bed and sleep...

I hope I dream of Max's smile, and Artur's joy.

I just hope that a good men's SP won't lead to a disastrous men's LP (crosses all my fingers and my toes)

So realized that 76+ is actually the worst score Jason had received in the SP since he became senior. :( I'm hoping he will do better tomorrow.

Oh well...

He's still 3rd on PCS though

He got 38+ at TEB last year and now 39+ for this....

So I'm guessing Javi is going to stick with his current layout and opt out of going for the 2 quads. Good idea IMO

That makes it worse!
That why he said he was very embarrassed everytime people mention it. The only program he might never want to do it ever again maybe. :laugh2:

Overall I am so happy for the men. It seems the ice surface has gotten better than when it was for the ladies.

Now I hope that they will do well tomorrow as well!!

I'm sorry to continue the trauma, but I must link to some examples of this :laugh2: He even got a whistle at one point. I would have died right there on the ice at 15

Javi's hip action is far better imo ;)
It's a bit more bearable in the black outfit. Well, still "Boyang Jin attempting Tango Amore" levels of scary, but no longer in its own universe.

Well, once again I am completely cross-threaded. I do not understand the love for Voronov's program (Danse Macabre? again? that outfit? and it just didn't seem like either the dead were coming to life or heading back, for me: YMMV), although I am thrilled that an "older" skater did so well. I do love Juke, not just because it's Jason, and I can't help but think that calling it "cutesy" shows a lack of understanding for the 40s African American blues scene. (and what the heck is Jason supposed to do with it. He's cute and he smiles, that's who he is. Thank heavens he's not faking something he's not.)

And if it wasn't for Javi, right now I would not have one man on the podium. Those GPF prediction scores are going down, down, down ....

I just wasn't sure and was considering who might be eliminated by not medaling here.

I'm not a fan of his program either, but he skated it lights out

I am very sad for Jason. I think he was very underscored! I don't understand why Voronov received 90 points for this program! (Russian judges, of corse) Or Brezina ...
