2014 Worlds - Ladies Short Program

With Ashley and Gracie at a combined 12 (5+7) and Polina all the way down in 12th place, I would hope this puts to rest anyone's notion that it would have been a good idea to send Mirai to Worlds instead of Ashley. It was only a good idea if USFSA didn't care about keeping three spots.

It might have been a good idea to send Mirai instead of Polina.

In any case, thank you again CaroLiza for posting the Eurosport Link. Much appreciated. And Jenna not only made the LP, she is in 20th place. ;)

Just spotted your comment (I found it during the ads in Eurosport's highlights of Pairs Free). Thank you so much for the thanks.

Absolutely delighted for Jenna! She will get her swansong in one of the most exciting competitions we have had for years!!!

And not only that, all of "my girls" got through to the FS!

The only real disappointment in terms of who qualified or not was Elena Glebova.

I am especially pleased that Anna Ovcharova got through, in only her first major International competition since switching to Switzerland!

By the way, maybe it is because I like the "Swiss"-Russian so much, but every time somebody said "Anna" in this thread, I automatically think of Ovcharova!

So, is there any chance we could get into the habit of using "Pogo" more for Pogorilaya?

It's hard enough to keep up with all the Polina's without the same happening with the Anna's... I'm getting old, after all! (Well, Jenna's younger than me, remember... )

I doubt if Gold doesn't beat Akiko, but the top 3 are on fire. I have a feeling Yulia will deliver her personal best, and Mao will set a new world record.

We don't know if Asada's FS will be any good. So it can be both good or bad draw for Yulia.

She is going to expect a loud roar anyway. It may be Mao's last skate ever so she won't be put off by the crowd regardless of Mao's skate(I hope Mao kills it). Bronze is greedy enough for me. I do think this as opposed to Sochi is the type of pressure she likes. I'm still nervous though for this kid and my health but......I really do think her jumps actually look to be improving. She is definitely growing and has grown a ton since even the beginning of the year. With that could come strength. One can hope right. Good luck all. I'm fine with the podium the way it is now.

I have to also note how gushing and complementary was Adelina's commentary towards all competitors. particularly Mao, Caro, and Yulia.

It might have been a good idea to send Mirai instead of Polina.

Why? Mirai does not have the technical ability of Polina and she would have been killed by URs with this technical specialist. She would not have finished 12th (in the SP) in this field. She only finished 10th against a bunch of "B" level skaters at 4CC.

Go Anna and yulia!! Some people are trying to destroy all russian skaters but just do well!

I would love for the podium to stay as it is,

And for the USA to have 3 skaters for next year

Not worried about RUS and JPN ;)

Go Anna and yulia!! Some people are trying to destroy all russian skaters but just do well!

It's amazing how some people allow themselves to be defensive about Russian skaters a month after what happened in Sochi,

Not to mention with the scores Kovtun and Lips got here,

Delusional a bit ?

WOW! I haven't seen any of the videos yet; only the scores, but WOW!

So happy for Mao and Carolina! Amazing job for Julia, bouncing back with that (wow! that 74+ outside of Russia) and great job for Akiko and Gracie.

Mao...I doth swoon! That program is SO gorgeous!! I still don't get her being so low in TR and I think both her CH and IN should be higher, but whatever! I'm just happy I'll have a perfect version of this program to watch over and over and over and over...so happy for her!

Carolina Kostner though...insane how consistent she's been lately. Going back to Euros, that's 4 clean SPs in a row, all with 3-3s! I really hope she knocks that FS out of the park again. Her SP makes me sigh...dreamy content sigh. It's SO beautiful! That's what her score should have been in Sochi. Glad to see the world judges agree with me there...

I'm excited to see how everyone else will do. USA is holding on by a thread to those 3 spots...I hope they don't lose them. Russia's 3 spots are looking good right about now.
