2014 Worlds - Ladies Short Program

Ah, so...thanks, S-S! I stuck w/ the Russian feed; unfortunately, couldn't make Eurosport work (am also tech-challenged) but will try again tonight. However, IIRC, the Russian feed has its own "Ana." Plus a couple of her friends.

Thanks so much again to everyone who provided links. My cable company's rates border on extortion, so I had resigned myself to watching after-the-fact on YouTube or NBC 2 weeks later. (Grrrrr....) Now, because of all you nice folks, I'll be sleep-deprived but very happy for the next few days. :party2:

It was especially great to see Mao's skate as it happened. So happy for her I got all weepy! :points:

It's not Ana, it was Adelina on Russian feed.

cant blame gymers
there are many bots here

some people are still whining about Julia's scores even in Saitama

Can we make a deal that the next time you approach\respond to me,
Whether it's kindly or negatively,
You leave the word "Bot" out of the post ?

Well, I'd say if "judge founds performer #1 more impressive than other performer in the average of five aspects of program components: skating skills, transition, execution, choreography and interpretation", it basically means the judge founds performer #1 skating better(cleaner) than other performer.

But hey, that's just me and my poor man's logic. ;)

I don't know what it is with Kanako. I just hope that this will motivate her to continue. She can't be happy with ending her career like this, there is so much potential still.

I also hope Kanako continues, but if she does she needs to fix her jumping technique (underrotation, "mule kick") pronto. I can't understand why Machiko Yamada can't fix it until now when she was also Midori Ito's coach. I'd want Kanako sent to Brian Orser and join Yuzuru there for training.

It's amazing how some people allow themselves to be defensive about Russian skaters a month after what happened in Sochi,

Not to mention with the scores Kovtun and Lips got here,

Delusional a bit ?
Yay for Mao and good on Carolina. But I actually was impressed with Julia and agree with some other posters she should have been closer to second - I do wonder if her body will stay Sasha like though. Hopefully. A lot of good generic skating - Ashley, Gracie, Katelyn, Akiko, Kananko, Beite et al. Surprised at the Japanese ladies. I hope the podium stays and Mao like the Germans Ssquared and can ride into the sunset.

Yeah that's it.

What is happening to Gracie Gold's jumps? Her 3Lo and 2A looks even smaller than Lipnitskaia.

Well, the "Cleaner" word has to do more with TES though.

My Reax:

Asada deserved ALL the points. That was FLAWLESS and seriously the best short I've seen since Yuna's 2009 Short. When she's on, that effervescence is just overflowing. Rightfully, a new World Record.

Kostner was joyous and I'm so happy she's in second.

Julia was Julia.

Akiko, out of everyone makes me smile and cry. Such a glorious skate!

Gracie was good, but the top 4 are right.

Because Julia really deserves it and its a good thing.

Who said she didn't ?

a few people here who questioned her PCS\GOE ?

Well, they should !

But that doesn't mean they're out to get Russian skaters

It's criticism, And actually one that has basis.

I'm fine with her score, I'd be better if it was a couple points lower, But she's great.

Ok, the top3 was clearly overscored (Mao and Caro in spins, Julia in jumps and PCS), but... WHAT A COMPETITION :points:
Mao and Caro were PERFECT, I'm so happy for both of them, Mao because she finally skated this program as she's capable to and Caro because this is a wonderful farewell SP! Julia totally deserved 3rd place (even if +1.40 for that combo or 9s for IN is a bit too much), but I'm a bit sad for Akiko: she skated wonderfully (and was even a bit underscored in PCS), I hope she can skate well in the FS and earn a second medal!

Wonderful performances from top 4 but Julia's hearts are getting more and more misshapen with every performance. :disapp: That aerial camera view doesn't help.

Oh, Mao, Carolina, and Julia were all so good in the SP.:points: And Mao gets a new SP world record after 4 years of her been reworking her techniques.:yay:

I finally got to watch Yulia's performance.

She got what she deserved. So deal with it.

Some of you people just can't stop winning no matter what.
You sound like a broken record. Can't help but criticise everything. Unable to enjoy a spectacular competition without a controversy perhaps?!
It could be very well the best ballerina in the world skating out there, and you would still have something to complain, simply because you don't like it or because she's from Russia. :p
So much for those who keep waving flag of fairness everywhere because they "love this sport". Yeah right! :frown:

Mao, Carolina, Yulia. You are massive!

Is there a Yawning Emoticon somewhere ?

Just accept that some people have issues with some of her still not fully developed skills and artistry,

And it's not because she is a Russian

And still they are very impressed with her and think she's special

If people had disliked skaters for being Russian then i don't know how they've been watching this sport.

End of story

What is happening to Gracie Gold's jumps? Her 3Lo and 2A looks even smaller than Lipnitskaia.

That's because Yulia's jumps are actually getting better:yay: especially Yulia's 2a. Her height is still meh..but if you rewatch her program and watch how controlled and how much flow she carries out. Gracie fights to stay on axis and nearly comes to a stop on a lot of her jumps. For lack of a better turn she almost stands up thru her landings and flow out. It's quite disruptive IMO.

Not knocking Gracie because I find her quite likable but just my 2cents.

Not everyone has to like a particular skater just because you personally do. Deal with it.

I deal very fine with it.
Not only that, but I don't become crazy even when somebody I don't like, or even think don't deserve some scores, gets them.

@Eladola:

Just accept that some people have issues with some of her still not fully developed skills and artistry,

That it's not a problem at all. I have some issues her as well. Otherwise I'll be saying she was underscored if I thought she is that fantastic in that aspect. I do have issues with some other skaters too and their scores though, but I'm not going around in every topic repeating the same things over and over, being ironic or accusing the judges.

Some people have issues with that score others don't. But above all the judges don't either.

So yeah. End of story.

Is there a Yawning Emoticon somewhere ?

Unfortunately no. It could help a lot though. Save me time when answering some of those broken records here.

I still don't like Julia's 2A but I get more and more impressed by her 3T in combination. I was also happy to see her nail the flip today. The performance was IMO her best of the season as well.
