2016-17 Russian Qualifiers and other events

That's weird thing to say. It is not as if Tarakanova's career was over. She may not have had a great season, but she did get to junior nationals, which the others from her age group didn't. Don't forget, Tarakanova will be eligible the same time as Sherbakova, Vasilieva and Trusova. They have done great on novice level this year, but they didn't qualify to junior nationals, unlike Tarakanova!

Heyyy don't say that. Some, like Shcherbakova, didn't even try to go to JN because they didn't compete in any of the cup events. If Shcherbakova had competed in the cup events, guess who would have gone to JN instead!

I don't care whether she tried or didn't try. The fact that she had to remain novice, whereas Tarakanova tried and succeed to get to a higher level nationals, contradicts the argument that Tarakanova should be seen as some sort of failure. It proves that she is doing fine. As I said, from her age group there was no one (no Sherbakova, Vasilieva and Trusova) at the junior nationals. One can argue that Sherbakova, Vasilieva and Trusova are on top of novice whereas Tarakanova was towards the bottom of juniors, but let's be realistic, I can't see how Sherbakova, Vasilieva and Trusova would be beating this season skaters like Feditchkina, Gubanova, Nugumanova, Lozko, Konstantinova, Trusrskaya etc. So if Sherbakova, Trusova and Vasilieva did compete at junior nationals last season, I wouldn't expect any higher results than Tarakanova had. There were just too many good juniors.

Its rather ridiculous to call someone failed because she didn't do so well in some competitions at age 11/12....

some are talking as if Tarakanova is totally out of contention but given this I really don't see how
Panenkova (2002, 60.56)
Kurakova (2002, 60.56)
Trusova (2004, 59.81)
Sinitsyna (2004, 59.79)
Tarakanova (2004, 58.74)
Scherbakova (2004, 58.56)
she did pretty well and even scored higher than Scherbakova who tano-ed everything
she is in 5th and only less than 2 points behind the leader
it's not like her career is over come on

Kostornaya :(
Pity about the combo mistake/fall.
She was one who I kept an eye on last year.

Can someone explain to me the twist at 1:07? It is first time ever I see that someone needs to stop to do twist. Usually the partner throws the female up and the female at the same time travels forward because the partner doesn't need to stop and yet when he is catching her, she is exactly where he needs her. Here If Bobrov didn't stop, he would probably skate under her and she would land behind him. Weird! Bobrov competed at JGP a few years back and at that time he knew how to throw his partner up, so why here she flies only up and not up and forward?
